Yu POV

My breath felt ragged as I turned the corner and skid to a halt, hiding behind the buildings corner of the street. I glance out, seeing nothing.

Did they hide after the attack? That's bad, we need them to chase us. Or are they just waiting to ambush us back? I squint and look around more closely, in the distance I see Mika behind a van, when making eye contact he shook his head, indicating he can't see them either.

I bite my lip and glance around once more. In my ear a voice suddenly rings out, catching me off guard.

"Is the plan a go?" Said Kimizuki in my ear piece. I sigh and turn my end on.

"I guess, but they hid after we attacked. Yoichi, can you see any of them?" I asked, whilst look up on a close building on the same street.

Yoichi stood up on top, aiming his bow about and scanning the streets in the block we were in. "Yeah, Mika, there is one nearing the corner behind you. And Yu, another has seen you in the building across the street, in the second floor." He said.

I glance up as the glass to one of the Windows above shatters, and out came a vampire, right at me. I roll out of the way as he tries to slash me, and I instantly launch myself at him with an overhead slash. He blocked it, pushing me back with great strength.

"Want me to help?" Yoichi asked, worried tones were in his voice.

"I've got this, focus on if he's getting reinforcements." I said quickly as I block another blow from the vampire. I duck his other blow, and kick his gut, making him stutter his movements.

In that movement, I slash him across his chest, blood spraying into the air as he turned to ash. Wiping the sweat off my forehead, I look over to see Mika finishing his also.

"That wasn't all of them, right? What about our main target?" I asked, and over the coms someone sneezes.

"Geez, can you guys keep it down? Screaming over the Mic..." Mitsuba said with annoyance.

"Oh shut it. You and Shinoa covering the exits?" Mika said, crossing his arms after sheathing his weapon.

"Yup, we already took care of a few, but no the main target. He might be trying to get away via subways." Shinoa responded.

Looking down the street to the nearest subway entrance I feel relief. "Nope, the subways are blocked by rubble, remember? Kimizuki and I took care of that escape route." I exclaimed.

I hear Shinoa give a sound that sounded close to praising me. Then I glance down the street. Near the sidewalk was a vampire standing, and staring at us. His clothes...

My eyes shoot wide open as he suddenly closes the gap between us within a few seconds, and swings his giant greatsword at me. I jump out of the way, just as his sword crushed the concrete where I had been standing before.

I gulp and take a step back where Mika was standing, brandishing his sword again. "Careful, Yu. Don't underestimate a noble." He said.

I let a grin escape. "Wouldn't dream of it."

Mika jumped over the noble, slashing its shoulder. The noble growled at this, his wound healing slowly. Did he recently drink blood? This is bad then, if he can regenerate that quickly even from our weapons then...

I turn my Mic to another channel.

"Claire, can you wake him up?" I asked.

It took a moment, but she answered.

"Do you want him to be cranky? You know he likes his naps." She said, a bit of humor in her voice. She was probably looking at his face and giggling.
