Yu POV

I woke up in bed with a tear in my eye from the dream I had. My head ached, and I slowly pushed myself up in bed. What had happened?

I remember... the others being bit...

I start to panic, but suddenly there's a knock at the door. I look up to see Shinoa by the door, giving me a smirk. She begins to stride over to the bed I'm in.

"Seems your awake. It's been a week since you passed out." She said, sitting down in a chair and giving me a glance over.

I feel my head pulse with a headache and I groan in pain. "What happened? Are the others okay?" I asked.

Shinoa took a small glance at the floor, but then smiled again. "Yup, everyone's safe." She said.

Safe... I sighed in relief and slumped down in bed a bit more.

"Thank god." I said, realising there was a tear in my eye, I quickly wiped it away, but Shinoa saw it and smiled.

"Still a crybaby." She said.

"Shut up." I mumbled.

We sat in silence, but I stood up in bed once more and looked down at my hands. So what had happened back there... with Mika... wasn't a dream?

I feel my chest squeeze as a small point of happiness spread through me. "My family... Mika I out there." I said, looking out the window.

Shinoa follows my gaze. "You mean, he's a survivor of that orphanage you were in?" She asked.

"Yeah... I thought he was dead, but now he's..." I stopped, not wanting to finish the sentence. He was a vampire now, and I felt guilty. If he was turned, then it was obviously my fault.

I look back at Shinoa with determination. "Shinoa... I want to save Mika."

"Save him? How?" She asked, confused.

"Just... if it comes down to it, will you help me save him?" I asked, looking her in the eyes.

Shinoa was quiet for a long time, then a smile came to her face and she let out a small laugh. "It seems you've found a new reason to live."

I blush a bit from embarrassment. "Shut up..."

"But yeah, I'll help you. Because I'm your friend." She said.

"Shinoa..." I said, staring at her in surprise. I then notice a small patch on her neck, and I nearly jump off the bed. I lean over and touch her neck, pushing her hair aside.

"Ah! Y-Yu!" She said hesitantly for some reason.

"Are you alright?" I asked, touching the patch lightly.

"Y-Yeah! Just some lost blood I'll gain back in no time!" She said quickly, her face turning color. Was she embarrassed about getting bit?

At the door, there was a squeak of noise, I glance over to see Mitsuba standing there, with a surprised look on her face. She puts her hands out, her face going red.

"S-Sorry if I'm interrupting!" She said quickly.

Shinoa was quick to say something. "N-No! Your not interrupting! I promise!" She said, getting more flustered.

Mitsuba cleared her throat and then walked in, setting a tray of tea on the table. She gave me a smile and handed me a cup. "I brought tea, thought your throat would be dry."

Now that you mention it, my throat felt like a desert. I take the cup from her hand and quickly chug half the cup down. The tea was just the right temperature not to burn and not to be too cold.
