Claire POV

I drank the blood from the vile I had on hand and sighed a heavy one. After the fight with the humans a few weeks ago, we retreated to Shinjuku to help the assault there.

Now I was sitting in our "base of operations", trying to have a moment alone, but it seems that Allan just won't shut up about a certain someone.

"Didn't you see those horns?" Allan said, pointing at his head, bending them to act as horns as if he were a child mimicking a monster.

I sigh again. "Yes. I remember. Now leave, your bothering me." I said.

Allan didn't look pleased by my attitude. "But he stopped attacking when you got in the way! Why is that...?" He said, his voice having a certain edge to it.

I nearly choke on my blood I was drinking and look at him with a glare. "What are you implying?" I asked.

"Did you seduce that human?" Allan asked bluntly, a short smile on his face.

I let out a short gasp, then get up and let my hand slap across his face. "Don't talk in such a lecherous way!" I growled.

Allan rubbed his cheek, then stood, taller than me and setting at me with a death glare. "Judging how you defend him so much..." he trailed off, then pushed me against the wall, staring into my eyes with a death glare.

"Now listen here, Claire... your mine. If you end up fancying that monster, then I'll simply kill him before he can use that strange ability of his." Allan said, his voice deep and threatening.

I close my eyes, I couldn't help but shiver in fear as he ran a hand through my hair. I don't look him in the eyes, and he gets bored, turning away.

He walked away, with a loathing atmosphere around him.

I take a deep breath when he's out of sight, and hold my chest.

Waylon... stay away from me- I thought.

I slide down and hug my knees, letting out a short sob of fear.

Yoichi POV

We got paired for scouting ahead and meeting up at a certain point, where we were supposed to take out a small vampire sleeping chamber.

I got paired up with Waylon.

He took lead, looking around, his eyes never seemed to rest around us, always looking behind us every minute or so. He had experience, being outside, unlike me, Yu, and Kimizuki.

I don't know what to think of Waylon just yet, he's a bit of an oddball, but not like the rest of us. He seems to carry something like very deep emotions with him, and it makes his face into this blank abyss.

There was no emotions in his eyes or face, almost never. Except when we were training, when he was fighting Yu too, he looked alive. But right now he looked hesitant and cautious.

"H-Hey, how far do we have to walk?" I asked, deciding to start up a friendly conversation.

Waylon glanced back at me and continued his normal routine of scanning everything in sight, but he did answer me.

"It'll be about an hour, you can handle it." He said, stopping suddenly and looking ahead with a narrow eye.

I join him at his side. "What is it?" I asked.

He pointed ahead. "There. A girl." He said.

I follow his finger and surely enough there was a girl standing in the middle of the street, hooked to a car, and unable to leave from the chains being blinded to her wrist.

The girl wore white clothing.

"T-That's-!" I started, but Waylon grabbing me before us could go and run to help. He put a finger to his lips and nodded towards an empty building.

I tilt my head, as he goes into a crouch position and sneaks from rusted car to car, staying in cover and soon getting to the side of the building.

I wait for him, and suddenly he pulls out one of his guns, putting his ear to the wall and closing his eyes, listening.

After a moment, his eyes shot opens and he aimed at the wall, shooting three shots into the wall. I ft out of cover and run to his side, as he walked into the building he'd shot into.

There on the floor lay two pills of ash, and one vampire that handy turned into the same yet. I pull out my bow hesitantly, but Waylon stops me, putting a hand up.

"Hey, blood sucker. Are there any of your kind nearby? Or are you just trying to catch extra food?" He asked, kneeling down next to it and aiming at his face in a threatening way.

The vampire grit his teeth, clenching his wound that was in his chest. "Do you think I'll tell you- gah!" He screamed in sudden pain as Waylon stabbed into its skin slowly.

"What was that?" Waylon said, his expression still empty. A dark aura went around him, making me take a step back in fear.

"Aaaaah! Stop! S-Stop! I'll tell! I'll tell!" The vampire screamed, but Waylon only stabbed deeper, his expression still didn't change.

"Then tell. I won't stop until you do." Waylon said, looking a bit bored.

"A-About a few blocks from here! On Juramoto Street!" He said, making Waylon stop his torture.

Waylon pulled his bayonet out and shot both the vampires legs, making him yelp in pain and me squirm from watching. This doesn't feel right.

"Lets go, Yoichi." He said, putting away his gun and walking out near the front door, I follow, looking back at the injured vampire, weeping in pain and agony.

I pull on Waylon's uniform. "H-Hey... shouldn't we kill it?" I asked, looking him in the eyes.

Waylon didn't say anything at first, then tilted his head in a weird angle, as if a doll had lost its head string. His eyes were empty, and his voice even more so.

"What do you mean? I killed him." He said.

I flinch, then look back at the vampire, who was turning to dust slowly, making the vampire scream and yell in pain and start to say sorry and a bunch of apologies.

I couldn't move.

I felt scared of the one person beside me. Scared that he might not even be in his right mind, doing something like this, even to a vampire, this is cruel, too cruel.

"Isn't it more funny when they feel a sense of security, then you break it easily, like a twig?" Waylon said, with a blank face and a small tilt of his head.

After I didn't answer, unable to, he shrugged and turned, walking down the street to the street the vampire said. As I looked back at the vampire, he was still dying slowly.

I walked up to him, and made me how appear, quickly shooting him in the chest and making him puff into dust quickly. I then put it away and rush out.

What exactly happened to him to make him this way?

(Yeah, when I said Waylon broke, I meant broke. He's now ruthless against vampires and feels nothing for those who are in pain... it's great development! Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day!) - MnMs171

Waylon and Yoichi head to the meeting point, as Yoichi has something urgent to tell his squad mates. How will the others react to how Waylon treated vampires?
