Claire POV

The news about a squad being taken out spread through the ranks quick. We couldn't keep the info hidden from the lowers.

I stood out in a street with my unit behind me. Allan and Mikael were with me, both of them were talking right now, but I could tell Mikael was trying to cut off the conversation and focus on the scouting at the moment.

"Any sight of the enemy?" Mikael asked, ignoring Allan further by turning his back on him.

I bite my lip and sigh. "No. Their pretty hard to spot, that's for sure."

Allan laughed a bit. "Then we should lay a trap! It should work if it's convincing enough." He said, a smirk growing on his face.

He walked back to the truck we had and tumbled through the back, me and Mikael hear a child's scream, making the both of us focus on what he was getting.

Soon, Allan climbed out of the truck with a small child. The boy looked angry and ignorant. He glared at all of us with anger that was hard to describe.

I expected Mikael to say something, but instead he just stared for a moment, then turned his back on us. "Do as you wish." He mumbled.

I frown at Allan. "You want to use the boy as bait?" I asked, a little disgusted.

Allan chuckled. "Don't act so grossed out. Cattle love to try and save their own kind." He said.

The others all nodded except me and Mikael, who at the moment wasn't paying attention to any of us.

He didn't seem interested in any of this, but had his mind somewhere else almost all the time.

"What are you staring at?" I asked, walking away from Allan and leaving him to do whatever with the rest of us.

"Why did the people that were protecting come with us?" Mikael asked, looking over his shoulder at the three Brothers of Cerberus. All of them glanced around them, all around a giant container being pulled by the truck.

"Don't know... what's in the truck?" I asked him, putting my hands on my hips.

Mikael squinted at the truck. "Maybe something we should stay away from." He said under his breath.

We are both quiet as we watch the container, the giant thing looking very revealing in the middle of the street.

The air felt thick with some intent, everyone seemed on edge and watching their backs non stop. The humans coming here were smart, and strong if they killed an entire group of scouts and got out of their trap.

I'm about to say something else, but I hear Allan yell a command.

"The scouts saw a human soldier near, hide!" He ordered, just as he chained the boy to a lamp post.

Me and Mikael quickly head into a nearby building, pulling out our blades and glancing out the window in silence. The street seemed so quiet that even the tiniest of noises would make me jump.

And this trap, it's so obvious no one would fall for it, right?

Suddenly, Mikael pokes me and points out the window, and down the street l, is a lone soldier. He looked very young, with black hair with curls at the end, and blue eyes that seemed to almost glow.

Calmly, he walked up to the boy, who seems to be warning him about us. I'm about to jump out, when Mikael stops me, putting an arm out.

He pointed over at the boy again, and I suddenly felt a tinge of fright. Those weapons on his back!
