Sang's memories
My life changed forever at 13 years old, when I realized that I was able to turn invisible. I had always felt kind of invisible to everyone, but now it's the real deal.
My mother had just finished punishing me for some imaginary slight. As I lay on the floor, silently crying and bleeding from the beating I took, I had felt my skin begin to tingle.
I held my hand over my mouth, so she couldn't hear me pant for breath. She would hit harder, if I made any noise. I attempted to crawl under the table, but I remember having trouble willing my limbs to move. So, I tried to hold as still as possible.
I looked up and saw mother walking back into the kitchen. She shuffled to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water, all the while mumbling about what a lazy idiot I was. She looked right at me, but she never saw me.
"Sang, get your stupid whore ass down here and cook lunch." She screamed and walked out of the kitchen.
What had happened? Why didn't she see me lying on the floor broken and bleeding?
