This is a long update and it's all of the family meeting. On the forum, I had it broken into 4 parts, but here it's 2 parts, with only a few minor tweaks. Hope you like it!
What do you think of Vic's bathroom? I want that bathroom, especially the tub! ;D
CHAPTER 34 - Continued
Sean pov
Everyone gasps in surprise, and then starts talking at once.
"What happened, where did Silas go?" Luke inquires.
"What the Fuck just happened?" North growls.
"Should we start searching for them?" Kota queries.
"Shit, that's amazing!" Gabe exclaims.
"Wow, what else can this girl do?" Nathan wonders.
"I wonder if she can do that to more than one person." Victor ponders
"Pookie, where are you and Silas?" I question.
"Pookie, really Sean? Miss Sorenson, please reappear with Mr. Korba, so we can discuss this further." Owen orders in a not so calm tone. Truth be told, this little girl has us stumped, a little afraid, and a little turned on. Okay, she has me a little turned on, but I have the feeling I'm not the only one.
I hear Sang take a deep breath and both Sang and Silas reappear near the middle of the room. She drops her arms from around Silas' waist.
Silas scoops her up into his arms for a hug and says "That was the most amazing thing I have ever felt. Thank you Aggele mou." Then he kisses her on the cheek and sets her down. Hey! I want to kiss her and hug her and down Sean, too much too soon for this little beauty.
"Miss Sang, did you know that you could make another person invisible besides yourself?"
"No, but I suspected that I might be able to. I have never really been able to test my powers, too afraid of being caught by HER. But yesterday, I did a few small tests and found out a few things" she says as she sits down in her chair.
"Please explain your tests and the conclusions" Owens demands in that stern voice of his. Argh, dummy is going to scare our lovely bird away, if he's not careful.
"My main conclusion's that once I go invisible, if I hold something or someone against my torso, then the object or person will go invisible too. If I hold it in my hands, then it will appear to float in the air. If I'm in water you cannot see me, but you can see where the water is being displaced by my body. And my invisibility does not work on light for some reason." Sang says quickly and clearly.
"Sang, Can you make me invisible too?" Luke asks excitedly.
"Fuck that Luke, if anyone is going invisible with Sang baby, it's going to be me" North shouts.
Nathan jumps to his feet and says "No way North, I'm next, right Peanut?"
Suddenly, the voices swell and everyone's asking to be invisible, except for Owen and me, of course. I didn't get a chance to ask, Damn!
"Quiet!" Owens bellows over the sudden chaos that has erupted. "Everyone will sit down and be quiet or hours will be assigned. This is not how we work gentleman, you know better."
"What does "hours will be assigned" mean?" Sang asks in a confused voice. "Are you a normal group of friends or are you something else? Here I am telling you my life story and I just realized how little I know about any of you" she says with sudden suspicion in her voice.
Owen and I have a silent conversation and the boys are watching us intently. Sang's starting to look more and more doubtful by the second. The tension in the room is quickly becoming electric.
"You know what; I think it is time for me to leave. Silas, can you please take me home now?" she asks in a dubious voice as she stands up and slowly shifts closer to the closed door.
All eyes move from Owen and I to Sang and back again. Sang looks ready to bolt. Owen moves in front of the door and calmly says "Miss Sorenson, could you please have a seat? We will tell you more about ourselves and the Aca." His words halt suddenly as he realizes what he almost said.
Sang looks at us with distrust in her eyes and says "I think I'll stay right where I am, thank you very much. What's up with the silent conversations? Why do I suddenly feel like I made a huge mistake telling all of you anything about myself? And what the hell is the Aca?"
Sang pov
Oh crap, what kind of mess have I gotten myself into now? I'm feeling scared, unsure, and more than a little pissed off.
Silas jumps up and approaches me slowly. "Aggele mou, can I talk to you for a minute?" I shift my eyes from Silas to the rest of the guys and say"No, I want everyone to hear what I have to say. All I'm asking is that everyone please just listen to what I have to say."
I look to the leader Mr. Blackbourne and he nods his head for me to continue.
"My name's Sang Sorenson; I'm 16 years old and all alone in the world. For as long I can remember, my life has been filled with heartache, pain, and lies. The woman I thought was my mother, loved to hurt me physically and emotionally, and my father never did a thing to stop her. To say I have trust issues is an understatement. I've shown all of you a secret that I have kept hidden from the world, but at this moment, I'm wondering if I made a serious mistake."
As soon as those words leave my mouth, North stands up so quickly that he knocks over his chair. "What the Fuck, Sang baby? Why would you think that telling us your secret's a mistake?" he demands and it looks like he's going to charge over to me, when Silas grabs his arm.
"First off North, I asked you to listen to me, so just shut up and listen."
"Second, I don't really know much about any of you, but you know some very important things about me."
"Third, you scare me, all of you scare me. My family has taught me that you can't depend on people, especially people you call family. You have all been so nice to me and I don't really know if I trust that or you."
"And Fourth, I sense lots of hidden depths and secrets from all of you. The silent conversations, late night appointments, a family meeting, when no one's family, and the sudden feeling I got that I wasn't allowed to leave."
I'm not usually so honest or blunt about my feelings, but I think it's important to be that way with them. All of the guys had shifted uncomfortably after my fourth statement, but they all look to Mr. Blackbourne for guidance. Damn, those silent conversations!
Mr. Blackbourne moves away from the door, sits back down, and puts his hands on his legs. "Miss Sorenson, it was not our intention to make you ill at ease, nor to scare you. You are right, we are more than friends, we are a family. To us, Family is a choice and you don't have to be related to be family. I think a question you need to ask yourself is this. Do I want to be their friend or do I want to be part of their family? Only you can make that choice."
Deep in thought, I blindly go and sit down at the table. When I tune back in, all eyes are on me. Some of the guys looked excited, some angry, some anxious, but they all wait to hear what I have to say.
"I need to know more before I can make this kind of decision. What kind of family are you? What does the word family man to you? Who are you? You seem like more than friends, but I have no experience with this kind of situation. Please help me understand." I search each one of their handsome faces as I look for answers.
Mr. Blackbourne looks around at each boy and each one nods. He then looks at me and says "Miss Sorenson, we are not asking for an answer today, so please don't think that. Get to know us and see if you would like to become a member of our family. You will be considered a friend until you tell us otherwise."
"However, there are some important things that you need to know about us. We are more than just friends; we are part of a private institution called The Academy. Since you are not currently a student, there's only so much we can tell you. This is for both your protection as well as ours." Mr Blackbourne continues. I'm a little shocked at the last revelation. Are they dangerous or in danger?
Mr. Blackbourne glances at Kota and Kota starts talking. "Sang, the Academy is not your average school. This year we have been assigned to be students at Ashley Waters. They're having problems with their curriculum and need help getting additional funding to improve the school. This school has over 2,000 students and that's too many students for the school. Many are known to be troublemakers and academic underachievers. Both fights and bomb threats happen there frequently."
Dr. Green continues where Kota left off. "Owen and I are going to take charge of part of the classrooms and to help with the curriculum changes. This school's desperately in need of funds to build a new school to take the overflow of kids. There's more involved in this situation, but it is both complicated and classified."
"Okay, I can understand that. Honesty is huge issue for me, I hate being lied to. If there's something you can't tell me, then just say you can't tell me or that it's Academy business. Oh, by the way, who is Owen?" I ask in confusion. "That is me, Miss Sorenson." Mr. Blackbourne continues. My cheeks turn pink, but I give him a small smile and a wink.
"So, what happens next?" I inquire with curiosity in my voice. "We have a few more important things to discuss. Next is something you will probably not like, but everyone goes through this. I had Mr. Morgan do an initial background check on you. Mr. Morgan, please tell everyone what you have found out."
I'm kind of disturbed about what Mr. Blackbourne just told me. Why would they need a background check on boring old me?
"Sang, you mentioned that you just found out that the woman you thought was your mother was really your step mother. Do you know anything about your birth mother? Could your powers have come from her?' Victor asks in his beautiful baritone voice.
"My father just told me that her name was Elizabeth and she died giving birth to me. He was going to leave HER to be with my birth mother, but I screwed everything up when Elizabeth got pregnant with me. He never said her last name or where she died."
"I have a copy of my birth certificate at home, but never really looked at it. I guess my powers could have come from her. But if she had these powers, she kept them well hidden from my father. Why are you asking me this, Victor?" I say in a curious tone.
"Sang, I hate to tell you this, but I was unable to find any information out about you. You're not listed on your parents' tax forms; you have no registered birth certificate, no school files or pictures, no doctors' reports, and no social security card. Princess, you're a ghost. You don't exist." Victor adds in a sad voice.
"Victor, what do you mean I don't exist? I'm sitting right next to you. It's true that I have never been to the doctors, but I have been to school. I have a copy of my birth certificate, social security card, and school files at my apartment. You must be mistaken" my voice is calm, but I'm pissed. How can I not exist anywhere? Why did those assholes hide me?
"Miss Sorenson, I debated telling you about this new development, but I thought you deserved to know the truth. We believe that all of the paperwork you have is fake. You must not have been born in a hospital and for reasons unknown, your parents have kept you a secret from the government." Mr. Blackbourne tells me in a firm, calm voice.
I stand up and look around at the guys. Damn, I need a minute to compose myself. "Sorry guys, but I need to be alone for a few minutes" I say as I focus and become invisible, walk into the other room, and lock the door.
I drag myself over to Victor's bed and sit down. My brain feels numb and I have no idea how to handle what I've just been told. I hear talking and yelling outside the bedroom door, but ignore it. Needing a distraction, I look around Victor's bedroom and notice two doors. I stand up and open the first door. It's a massive closet, with more clothes than a small department store and more room than my previous bedroom.
Shutting that door, I open door number 2. It's a bathroom, my dream bathroom. Honestly, I could live in here. I wonder if Victor would be willing to share it. The infinity tub's amazing! I walk in, close the door and look in the mirror. Crap, I forgot that I was invisible.
I focus and I'm back. When I look in the mirror, a stranger's staring back at me. She has my blond hair, green eyes, small body, and heart shaped face, but I feel like I don't know her at all.
Taking a few deep breathes; I turn on the faucet and splash some cool water on my face. Feeling a little better, I try and collect my ricocheting and scrambled thoughts.
Once I have collected myself enough to think again, I head back towards the meeting room. I take another deep breath and open the door. All heads turn my way.
"Victor I'm sorry that I invaded your room like that, I just needed a minute to collect myself. Can I just say that I love your bathroom! Would you be willing to share it sometime?"
"Princess, my bedroom and bathroom's yours anytime you want" Victor says in a smooth reassuring voice, but his beautiful fire eyes are blazing.
"What the Fuck, Vic?" both North and Gabe shout at almost exactly the same time. I smile and look around the room. My gaze lands on Mr. Owen Blackbourne.
"Mr. Blackbourne, is there anything else that I should know or can we all relax and get to know each better? Also, can I call you Owen?" I ask him looking straight into his beautiful steel colored eyes.
"Nothing that can't wait, Miss Sorenson. As for calling me Owen, we shall have to wait and see" he says as his cool steel eyes melt to a softer silver color. The right side of his mouth turns up a millimeter and his face transforms from stern to pleased.
"Oy Trouble, can I play with your hair now?" Gabe asks in an excited voice. I look around the room and start giggling and soon everyone joins in.
