CHAPTER 8

Sang pov

Looking around to make sure no one's watching, I focus my power. Then feel the tingle and my body, clothes, and backpack are back. Glancing out of the alley, I don't see anyone looking my way, especially Mr Grumpy. So I quickly walk to the bus stop and hop on the next bus.

My trip to the Reeves Superstore's an eye-opener. I have never been to a place like this, but have seen one on a TV show before. I grab a shopping cart and start to put necessary items in the cart.

I knew I won't be able to carry a lot of bags at once. So I snag a pullable cart that I would be able to take on the bus and put it in my shopping cart. It's not pretty, but maybe I wouldn't need to use it that much.

Loading the basics into my cart including: food, toiletries, cooking utensils, salt, pepper, some spices, a large pot, small pot, frying pan, a can opener, two plastic plates, two sets of silverware, two plastic bowls, two plastic glasses, a few towels and washrags, paper towels, aluminum foil, food containers, a small bottle of pop, a set of dishtowels, dish washing liquid, a small purse and wallet, and a menstrual cup.

This should last me until I figure out what else I need. I get in line to check out, the clerk rings up my items, and the total comes to $145.28. Bending down, I reach into my shoe and hand the cashier $160.00. She gives me the change and I load my bags into the shopping cart.

When I move away from the registers, I grab my new pullable cart and start to load my bags into it. Once I'm done, I pick up the cart to make sure I can lift it onto the bus. Woo hoo, it's not too heavy. There's a bench near by, so I sit down and consult the bus schedule.

Oh good, the next bus will arrive in about 10 minutes that will take me back to the Ashton Gardens Apartments. My bus trip home's almost uneventful, except I missed my stop and had to get off at the next one.

The next stop's a little too close to the Southern Comfort Café, for my liking. So I quickly lug my cart down the bus steps and hurry back to the apartment complex. The brisk walk to my apartment took longer than I expected. As I pass the clubhouse, I find myself slightly out of breath.

I'm about to climb up the steps to the apartment when I hear "Hey Sang, do you need help with that?' Looking around, I spot Silas at the top of the stairs with the dark headed guy, who saved me from Greg.

Nervously I giggle and say that "I'm fine". But Silas rushes down the stairs and takes my cart from me. He puts an arm around my waist and assists me up the stairs, all the while, carrying my cart.

I squeak and blush at the unexpected contact, not used to being touched. Once we are up on the landing, I notice that the big guy dressed in black's glaring at me.

"Hey Aggele mou, I would like to introduce you to my friend, North Taylor. North, this is my new friend, Sang Sorenson" he says. I look from one boy to the other and then take great interest in the floor. Briefly I glance up and North looks at me like he's going to explode and takes a step forward.

Taking a step back, I bump against the guard rail. I know that look all too well and am about to run. But I notice that Silas is blocking the way to my door, so I do what comes natural.

Immediately I drop to the ground, bow my head, and wait. Silas kneels down and gently lifts my chin. "Are you all right Aggele?' he asks in a soft voice.

I look over at North and he frowns at me, with confusion, not anger. Silas helps me to my feet and I sway a little trying to catch my breath and balance.

"What the hell was that all about?" North bellows at me. I take a step back and to the left and hide behind Silas. I know Silas can feel me trembling, but I can't seem to stop. This day has just been too much for me. My vision blurs and I catch a whiff of musk as I collapse.
