CHAPTER 2

Father looks at me with abhorrence in his eyes and asks "How long have you been able to do that?" I just shrug and mumble "a while." My voice trembling, I ask "Is it true? Is she really not my mother?"  My body shakes with fright and hopeful emotions. Maybe the monster isn't my mother after all.

"No, she isn't your mother. I loved your real mother, but you killed her in childbirth." He states coldly. "The doctors couldn't stop the bleeding and Elizabeth made me promise to take care of you. That promise is the only reason you're still alive." He sneers.

"I was going to divorce her." He says pointing to his bedroom. "Then your real mother got pregnant with you and as always, you ruined everything." He says forcefully. I can see him almost trembling with fury.

"I don't know what you are, but you will not live with us ever again."  He says. "Go pack your room up now or maybe I'll just let her kill you after all!" He bellows.

"I'll rent you a small apartment and give you some money for food. Remember, I'm not doing this for you." He looks up, takes a deep breath to try to calm down, then says "I made a promise to my sweet Elizabeth and I will keep it. Once you turn 18, you're on your own. Forget that you've ever known us and I never want to see you again!" He declares, his voice gets louder with every word.

"Go grab some of the moving boxes and pack up everything in your room; I want no trace of you left." He says as he glares at me. "I am going to call off work, find the cheapest apartment I can, and rent a small moving van. Be ready in two hours. "He roars in a furious voice and storms out of the kitchen.

Today's just not my day and it isn't even 8 am yet.
