12.

**Ziggy.**

There was no heart beat..
I wanted to ask him about it.
But I didn't know how he'd respond.
And the last thing I wanted, was to make him mad at me.

"Ziggy?"
I pulled myself from my thoughts and looked at Rocky.
But it was like, no matter how hard I tried not to show it.
I was both worried and afraid.
Why wasn't Kaiser's heart beating?

There were eyes on us as Kaiser looked at me.
"Ziggy-"
"I'm okay." I jumped to my feet, trying not to get flustered.
"I.. I'm okay." I said trying to reassure myself.
The question kept repeating itself.
I couldn't make myself point out the obvious.

"Alright, so let's continue the game!" Jackie announced as Kaiser stood to his feet, his eyes on me.

"Are you sure you're okay? You are pale." He told me.
My heart was racing.
"I-I'm okay, I just spaced." I told him but he didn't seem convinced.

"Do you want to continue the game?" Kaiser questioned looking at me.
My face grew warm before I nodded.
I wasn't sure why his heart wasn't beating like mine was.
But it wasn't keeping him from continuing to be nice to me.
I didn't want to ruin that.

"Mhm.." I agreed as Kaiser blinked before smiling softly.
"Come on." He went to motion for me to follow him, but just as I went to move forward.
My phone rang.

I stared at her name before my eyes met Kaiser's.
He didn't have to say it, but I knew he was disappointed.

"It's Lexi." I told him.
Kaiser nodded.
"You should answer her, she is your girlfriend after all." He said and for some reason, it sounded a lot more harsh than I expected.

My brows knitted before I stepped back and answered the phone.

"Lexi?"
{"Ziggy, hi, are you  free to talk right now?"} Lexi questioned on the other end.
I blinked before moving away from the group.
"I am, are you okay?"
{"I'm fine, it's you who I'm worried about."} She responded.
My brows knitted.
"You're worried about me..? Why?" I asked.
{"I heard about those guys you hang out with, they're not good people to be around."} She told me.
I felt this sudden anger hit me out of nowhere.

"How do you know about them? You've never met them." I frowned deeply into the phone.
{"I met that one at Deans, Ziggy, listen. Zeke told me about how manipulative they are towards you, he said he saw how some black haired kid looked ready to fight them after they brought you to school. He said they are the aggressive type-"}

"HE DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM!" I yelled as my face caught fire, looking over my shoulder as Rocky and the others all stood to their feet, looking in my direction with actual concern.

And in seconds, Kaiser was at my side, looking angry.

Tears burned my eyes.
{"He was right, you do lash out more."} Lexi commented as my heart pounded hard against my chest.
"Lexi-"
{"I know I said Zeke wasn't the best to be around, but he was still your first friend at this school. Why are you trying to make him out to be the bad guy, when all he's trying to do is look out for you?"} She asked me.
My face was burning as I stood there, because now Rocky was over here.

"He was never my friend, none of them were, Lexi." I replied.
{"How can you say that?"}
"How can you defend him?!" I demanded.

{"... Where are you right now?"} She questioned, completely ignoring me as my brows knitted.
"Why?"
{"Because I want to know if you're safe-"}
"Is he with you?" I asked her.
{"What? Who?"} 
I felt the tears trying to burn.
"Asher." I responded.

{"What..? How can you ask me that?"} She sounded hurt on the other end as I frowned softly.
"Just answer the question, it'll be easier for both of us if you're honest with me." I told her.

{"Look at you~"}
My blood ran ice cold hearing his voice.
{"Sounding so god damn mature for once, you have your poor girl over here sobbing, shame on you."} Asher finally responded.
"She isn't mine." I said and the words tasted bitter.
{"Oh? That's pretty rude to say."}
I frowned softly.
"It's honesty, she won't admit it, but we stopped dating the moment you guys had me expelled." I replied.

{"Ah that, you know, that was all of his doing. But, I think he did it for fun to ruin that little life of yours, I mean, we got news today that you're finally getting out."} Asher responded as my brows furrowed.
"Getting out..?"
{"Apparently your fag uncle went to court and told them what Bryce's dad did to your face, they immediately declared you'd be moving in with the brother, lucky for you. But. How unfortunate for you that it just made that x on your back, so much bigger."} Asher told me.

"Why..? I won't be there, so, there shouldn't be a reason-"
{"Oh, but see, there is always a reason for everything~"}
My face flushed red as the tears slipped.
"...."
{"You were quite the talker with Ash, why so silent with me?"}
My brows knitted as the tears slipped.
{"Ziggy~"}

My eyes grew wide at how fast Kaiser snatched my phone and answered it.

"Who is this?" He demanded into the phone now.
But the other end went dead as Kaiser glared softly.

"Who was that?" He asked me as I flinched and his glare died down.
"Ziggy-"
"I'm fine." I stood there crying.
"It's fine, everything is fine." I went to move but my legs were like jello.
I fell forward, but Kaiser and Rocky both caught me with wide eyes.

"Let's end the game here and head inside." Kaiser suggested as I stood there, my heart was racing so fast.
I was finally leaving that home.
But they were still coming after me.
Why?
There was no reason for it.

"Can you walk?" Rocky asked me as I blinked looking at him.
"I.. I think so." I replied as Rocky frowned softly but walked next to me as we made our way towards the house.
My thoughts were all over the place now.
Why did they call?
Why did they keep getting Lexi involved?
I hope she doesn't hate me too much, for suddenly ending things like that..
But.
I felt like it was the best thing to do.
For both of us.

"Alright, I know you don't want to talk about it, but I do. Who was that on the phone?" Kaiser asked so suddenly as we all sat in the living room.
My eyes were on him before looking at the floor.
"It was Lexi-"
"Who else?" Kaiser pushed as my brows knitted.

"Ziggy-"
"Asher, he was the one who you saw at the restaurant." I told him.

Rocky looked at me frowning softly.
"Was he also the one who got out of the car with you yesterday?" He questioned.
My face flushed red as my brows knitted.
"O-Oh, no that wasn't Asher." I frowned softly.

"Who was it?" Kaiser frowned at me as Dorian placed his hand on the others shoulder.
"Down boy, the kids obviously shaken up, and you being this aggressive jealous boyfriend isn't helping-"
Kaiser glared at the other.
"I'm just asking questions, is that not okay to do when you're worried?" He shot.

My brows furrowed as I looked at the other.
Kaiser looked at me as I frowned.
"Can I ask you a question first?" I asked him.
Kaiser frowned softly.
"Of course-"
"Why couldn't I hear your heart beat, earlier?" I frowned.

The silence in the room was so loud.
No one said anything.

"He has a heart condition." Stetson spoke up, looking annoyed at Kaiser who looked stunned I'd even ask him that.
"Oh..., I'm sorry, that was inconsiderate of me. I shouldn't have even asked you that-"

"No, it's fine." Kaiser cut me off with knitted brows.
"I don't even think about it half of the time, so it just threw me off that someone would notice." He told me.
My face was hot sitting there.
"You.. You were talking about being worried about my well being, so I just wanted to be worried as well.."

Kaiser blinked before he smiled softly, he moved over and knelt in front of me.
"That's pretty valid, and I know that took a lot for you to do, so I'm proud you felt comfortable enough to ask me something personal." He told me.
My face was flushed as tears burned my eyes.

"Alright, we're not here to flirt right now, we were having a conversation before the two of you had to get deep for a moment." Jackie commented but groaned when Devin elbowed him with a glare.
"Don't be a dick, let them have a moment, especially Ziggy." He hissed at the other.
Jackie rubbed his side before sighing.
"Right, right, my bad." He frowned.

Kaiser watched the two before his eyes fell on me.
"Do you think you can tell us who the other guy was now?" He questioned.
His tone was softer compared to earlier.
Had he just been angry on my behalf because of that phone call?

My brows knitted before I finally nodded.

"His name is Zeke Vega." I told them as Kaiser glared softly at that name.
"Is he the one who has been pulling the strings by making you like this?" He asked me.
My face grew warm.
"He... He is-"

"Perfect, so we have a name, so now we just need a face to beat in." Dorian commented as my brows knitted.

"Y-You can't." I told him as Dorian made a face.
"I'm sorry, but huh? Why the hell not?" He frowned at me.

Kaiser looked at me confused.
"Yeah, why can't that gorilla beat someone up?" He asked me as Dorian went to move forward, but Stetson and Jackie both stopped the other as they grinned.

I frowned softly.
"Zeke... Is dangerous, he has always had this threatening vibe about him, and if he tells you to do something.. you can't say no, that's how it was back at Silver Falls. Anytime he wanted something done and if you didn't want to do it, all he had to do was repeat himself.. he's scarier than most guys I know, and he always came after me, because he knew I couldn't say no." I rubbed the side of my neck.

"It was so weird, because I'd always get these headaches afterwards." I added.

No one said a thing.
Everyone was looking at each other, but at me.
Which only made me confused sitting there.

Kaiser, Dorian, Stetson and Jackie all exchanged looks with knowing eyes.

"How about we call it a night? We still have two full days before this ends." Rocky suggested, standing up from the couch.
Just the idea of sleep, made me more tired than I thought.

"Sure, that's a good idea." Kaiser agreed, standing to his feet as his eyes met mine.
"Would you like to sleep together?" He suggested.

Everyone besides the two of us, were gawking at Kaiser who wasn't thinking at all, how his suggestion sounded.

"Oh, sure." I agreed as everyone else stared at me with wide eyes.

Kaiser glared at them.
"It's not the way you jerks are thinking, so knock it off with the looks. It's actually possible to sleep in the same bed without jumping each other." He commented.

Devin and Rocky looked to each other.
"He makes it sound so easy." They said in unison.

I blinked but smiled softly before following Kaiser into one of the bedrooms.

Walking into the bedroom, my heart was in my throat as I stared at the empty bed.
I know I agreed, but now I was nervous as I watched Kaiser remove his shirt before crawling into the bed.

I stood there feeling awkward.
"Ziggy."
My eyes fell on Kaiser who sat in bed, waiting for me to join him.
I felt my face growing warm, but walked over anyway.
I pushed all nerves aside and crawled into the bed with the other.

The two of us lied there in silence, both of our eyes were on the ceiling as my brows knitted.

"Ziggy."
I looked to Kaiser who smiled softly at me.
"Come here." He told me.
My face grew hot before I moved over and his arms were wrapping around me.
This feeling again..
I was still bothered about his heart.

" He has a heart condition."

It made my brows knit as I buried my face deeper into his chest.
"Are you okay?" Kaiser questioned as I nodded.
"Mhm, I'm sorry about dragging everyone into my personal problems." I said now.
"Don't be, when you become friends with someone? Your problems become our problems as well, that's how the system works." He explained.

My face was warm as I looked at him.
"Does the system work the same way for.. couples?" I questioned.
Kaiser blinked before grinning softly at me.
"Are you hinting something?" He inquired playfully as my face turned red.

"N-No." I buried my face again.
"Ziggy." My brows knitted.
"Look at me."
I didn't want to, but my eyes fell on him as he cupped my cheek looking at me.

"I won't touch you unless you want me to, I'm a very patient person, if you want a relationship. It can happen, but only when you're ready." Kaiser told me as my brows knitted.
"What if someone else shows up and I'm still not ready?" I asked.
Kaiser blinked before he smiled softly.
"I've seen so many attractive people show up at our school, and none of them have ever won me over, but somehow.." His hand reached for mine as our fingers laced together.

"You won my interest, and I intend to make it official the moment you tell me you're ready." He told me.
My face was red as I looked at him.

"Does it bother you to say such embarrassing things so openly?" I asked.
Kaiser smiled softly.
"Not at all, I get the enjoyment of seeing you look so cute." He replied as my face darkened.

"Ziggy."
I wanted to look away but I couldn't.
Any time he said my name.
It made me feel warm.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked me.
I couldn't find my voice as I stared, the tears in my eyes but I managed a soft nod.

"Yes."

His lips were on mine for the second time tonight.
And I knew deep down.

I was already in love with him.
