**Ziggy.**
"What happened?" The eight year old's mom stormed into the nurses office.
It had been raining that day, and Ziggy was soaked with a tear-stained face.
The nurse sighed softly.
"Just a couple of kids being boys, but they took a joke a little too far-"
"A little too far?" His mom shrieked.
"Ziggy is soaking wet and crying, what did these boys do and have their parents been called?" She asked, frowning deeply before moving towards her son.
The nurse frowned.
"Yes, Mrs.Jones, the other boys parents have been notified-"
"Good, there's no discipline in this school." She looked at Ziggy with knitted brows.
"Baby, tell momma what happened." She took his small hands as Ziggy sniffled.
"I-It's okay, momma, I'm fine."
"No you're not baby, when things happen like this, you need to tell an adult." She told him.
Ziggy's eyes swelled with tears.
"I.. I told a boy I liked him, like how girls tell boys they have crushes.. b-but, he got angry and shoved me down in the mud and his friends all started throwing mud at me, they called me a mean word." Ziggy cried harder.
"I'm sorry momma, I'll try to like girls." He cried as his mom's eyes swelled with tears before ripping her son up and embracing him.
"We'll talk about this at home, we're going to enroll you in a new school." She said.
"Mrs.Jones, isn't that a bit-"
"If the system can't protect a child for liking what they like, what can the system protect?" Ziggy's mom glared at the nurse.
"We'll take our chances at Silver Falls, maybe that school will do a better job at keeping the students safe and not gay shame children." She said storming out of the building.
"How is he?" Ziggy's dad questioned that night as his mom watched the eight year old sleep.
"He's heart broken, Ryan." She turned to him with knitted brows.
"He told a boy he liked him, and the outcome was Ziggy being shoved into mud and bullied over it." Tears burned her eyes.
"There is nothing wrong with our baby liking boys, I just want him to be happy and healthy, is that so wrong?" She sobbed.
Ryan moved and held the other.
"Of course not, Chelsea, but you know our boy will face more struggles as he grows older, we won't be there forever." He told her.
Chelsea walked over to her sons bed, taking a seat as she ran a hand through the others hair.
"For now then, until he finds friends who will keep him safe and someone who will love him for who he is, we will keep him safe." She looked up at Ryan.
He smiled softly.
"Sounds like a plan."
"What happened?" My uncle stormed into the nurses office as I sat on the bed, my heart was still racing from earlier and Kaiser hadn't left my side, his fingers were intertwined with mine as he glared softly at my uncle.
"Ziggy got attacked." He told my uncle who froze in his tracks before walking up to me.
"Someone attacked you? Who?" He asked me.
I looked away with tears in my eyes.
"I-It.."
"It was that disgusting creep Mr.Levine." My eyes found Rocky who walked into the nurses office, he was trying hard not to let his eyes turn black as he looked to my uncle.
"Stetson and Jackie told the principal, and now they're talking to the police." He explained before walking over to me.
"That guy is going away for a very long time." He told me.
Tears burned my eyes.
"It's my fault for not getting a schedule change." I said quietly.
