Taehyung and Jungkook stepped into the living room to greet Shin Hari and her family. As soon as Shin Hari saw Taehyung, she rose from her seat, a wide grin spreading across her face. She moved toward him with open arms, embracing him tightly.azqs
Taehyung tensed slightly at the sudden embrace from his aunt, Shin Hari, but he quickly masked his discomfort with a polite smile. He gently patted her back as she hugged him, trying to keep the interaction cordial despite the awkwardness he felt from the earlier exchange.
"Oh, my boy Taehyung, how much you've grown!" Shin Hari exclaimed as she pulled away, her hands resting on his shoulders as she looked him up and down. "Look at you, all fit and fine. Didn't even call your aunt once in a while. Did you forget about me?" Her voice held a mix of warmth and playful reproach, but her eyes were calculating as they shifted over Taehyung's form.
Taehyung could feel the familiar pressure of her gaze, and although he was always respectful toward his elders, there was something about Shin Hari's attention that set him on edge. His protective instincts immediately shifted to Jungkook, who was standing a little behind him. He felt the need to shield his husband from any potential discomfort, whether it was in her behavior or the way she acted around him.
He chuckled awkwardly, trying to maintain his usual charming persona. "Aunt Hari, of course, I haven't forgotten about you. I've just been busy, you know how it is." He gave her a small smile, but there was a subtle edge to his tone, a silent message that he didn't appreciate the presumptuousness of her words.
Jungkook, sensing the tension, stepped forward with a gentle smile, trying to diffuse any potential awkwardness. "It's nice to meet you, Aunt Hari," he said politely, extending a hand to her. "Taehyung speaks highly of you." His words were warm, and his gaze met Shin Hari's with respect, though there was a clear hint of caution behind his eyes. He knew how much Taehyung valued his family, but he also understood when something felt off.
Shin Hari's attention shifted to Jungkook then, her smile widening as she eyed him, sizing him up just as she had with Taehyung. "Oh, so you're the famous Jungkook," she said with a mischievous glint in her eye. "The one who's lucky enough to catch my nephew's heart." She raised an eyebrow, her tone carrying both interest and a challenge, though it was all wrapped up in a veneer of casual conversation.
Jungkook stiffened slightly but remained polite. "I'm just grateful to have him," he said, his voice warm but firm, holding onto his composure.
Taehyung's eyes flickered with a protective fire as he looked at his aunt. He wasn't about to let anyone make Jungkook feel less than he was, especially not with the way Shin Hari was eyeing him like some sort of prize to be inspected. He stepped a little closer to Jungkook, his arm brushing against his husband's as he added in a low voice, "Let's go sit down. We can catch up then, Aunt Hari."
There was a brief pause before Shin Hari chuckled, her smile faltering slightly at Taehyung's tone. "Oh, alright, alright," she said, raising her hands in mock surrender. "I'm just happy to see you both." But there was still that lingering look in her eyes-one that made Taehyung more aware of the situation than he wanted to be.
Shin Hari's family seemed to follow a similar air of discontent and ambition, with each member bringing their own sense of discomfort into the room. As they all settled into the living room, the atmosphere shifted, and Taehyung could feel the tension mounting around him.
