The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a golden hue over the Kim household as everyone hurried to prepare for the much-anticipated picnic at Apsan Park. The van stood parked outside, loaded with baskets of food, blankets, and games for the day. Excitement buzzed in the air as children giggled and adults exchanged playful banter.
However, as everyone began to pile into the van, a glaring issue arose-there weren't enough seats for everyone. The chatter turned into mild chaos as family members debated who would sit where.
"There's no way we're fitting in here," Yoonji muttered, glancing around the cramped space.
"We can't take another car. It'll ruin the mood of going together!" Jimin added, pouting as he clutched his smoothie.
Taehyung, Yoongi, and Hoseok exchanged mischievous glances, their minds collectively sparking with the same idea.
"Alright, we've got a solution," Taehyung announced, his deep voice cutting through the noise. "Jungkook, come here."
Jungkook tilted his head, confused but obedient, as Taehyung grabbed his wrist and gently pulled him onto his lap. Jungkook's eyes widened, his cheeks flushing a bright red.
"Tae!" he squeaked, squirming slightly. "What are you doing?"
"There's no room, baby. You'll sit here," Taehyung replied nonchalantly, wrapping his strong arms around Jungkook's waist to secure him in place. "It's either this or you stay home."
Jungkook huffed, burying his face in his hands to hide his embarrassment. But secretly, he didn't mind the closeness.
Meanwhile, Yoongi looked over at Jimin, who was nervously nibbling on his lower lip. "Come here, Jiminie," he said, patting his lap.
Jimin froze. "No way, yoonie! There are so many people here!"
"And they're all family. No one's going to judge you. Come on, we don't have all day."
Hoseok, not one to be left out, smirked at his wife Yoonji, who crossed her arms and raised a brow at him. "Don't even think about it, Hobi."
"Oh, I'm thinking about it," Hoseok teased, grabbing her hand and pulling her onto his lap with ease. "There, problem solved."
Yoonji let out an exasperated sigh but leaned against him, muttering something about "next time, we're taking two cars."
As the van finally started moving, the younger spouses couldn't hide their bashful smiles, even as they protested. Taehyung chuckled at Jungkook's attempt to hide his face in his hands, Yoongi gently teased Jimin for his bright red ears, and Hoseok hummed a tune as Yoonji pretended to ignore his antics.
The rest of the family laughed at the scene, the playful dynamic adding to the warmth of the morning.
The presence of the Shins-Shin Hari and her daughter Shin Mi Rae-added an extra layer of drama to the already chaotic morning. The duo stood outside the van, visibly displeased with the lack of space, their discontent written all over their faces.
"This is unacceptable," Shin Hari exclaimed, dramatically waving her hand fan to ward off the summer heat. "How can we possibly sit in such cramped quarters? This is no way to treat us!"
Mi Rae, mirroring her mother's attitude, pouted and fanned herself furiously. "I'm not sitting here. This van is too hot, and there's no room! Why didn't you rent a bigger vehicle?"
The rest of the family exchanged awkward glances, trying their best to ignore the tantrums. Taehyung leaned over to whisper to Yoongi, "I'm starting to think we should've left them behind."
