I was finished and Misa walked out and went to see if L was ready. She came back with a smile. "Put your shoes on. He's waiting by the front door."

I went out with bare feet, shoes and clutch in hand, and nearly everyone stared. "What? Never seen a girl dress up?" I huffed. "Besides, half of you are married, anyway." I scoffed, struck a quick pose, and kept walking. "What would your wives think?" I called back.

I saw L in a tux and smiled. I stopped by him and put my shoes on, almost towering him since he was finally standing straight up. He still stood something like an inch taller than me.

"You look..." He couldn't seem to find a word. I smiled while trying not to laugh. "Thanks...?" I said. "I didn't even compliment you yet." L said in confusion. I just pressed a peck to his lips. "Your silence on not finding a compliment was enough." I said and he just smiled softly at me.

"Okay, let's go!" I smiled and L pulled me towards a limo outside. We got in and went to the place. "Aiber and Wedy will be there, as they're criminals too, just pretend you don't know them." L said and I nodded.

"Can do. Just one question." I said and L looked at me. "You're not a criminal. You're the exact opposite. What's your cover?" I asked with a smirk. He lifted his hand and caught my chin, bringing it towards his face. "Your partner in crime. Also known as..." His eyes flashed down to my lips. "...your lover." He smiled and pulled back, leaving me hanging.

"If I catch you flirting with anyone..." "Trust me, you won't." L smiled at me as we stopped and he lead us out and in. I stepped into a grand ballroom filled with golden light.

"Hello... Miss...?" Someone at the front asked me. I turned to them and turned up my sass and childishness. "Honestly? Who do I look like?" I asked and he immediately recognised me. "Oh, I'm sorry, miss H. You're good to go. You and your... Date." He said and I glared at him before stepping in.

"Oh, and it's a rule tonight that we ask you not to steal or kill or injure anyone while on the premises." He said and I turned back and glared. "Don't tell me what to do." I said and he quickly nodded and resumed to his job.

"Alright. Drinks?" I smiled to L and we went over to a bar. "I love it when you get all dark like that." L sighed to me. "I'm glad to hear it." I smiled and leaned on the bar on my elbows. "Hello, H. What can I get you?" A bartender came up. "You know, I really like it here. Everyone knows me. It's nice." I sighed, looking over a drink menu.

"Well, everyone better know our number one most wanted. You're setting a record, girl." He smiled and I smirked. "I better be. I've been working hard. Can I get a glass of that strawberry thing I can't pronounce?" I said and he laughed and poured me a heavy glass. "Anything for you, sweetie?" I turned to L. "I'm fine." He shrugged.

"On the house for H, for bringing us sinners a name." The bartender said and I raised my glass to him. "Cheers, man." "Cheers."

I recognised other criminals in here, and most were staring at me. I'm famous and I know it.

"You now see why I wanna transfer from being part time H to full time H? Everyone knows me as H, not that stupid bitch Reiko." I sighed to L. "I see." He nodded. "Just imagine. Terror on people's faces no matter where I went. One look and everyone would know my name. H. Oh, I can almost see it now..." I hummed and took a sip of my drink.

"Is that really what you want?" L asked. I looked at him, unsure of my next words. "Well... Yes. It's every law-breakers dream. To be known and feared worldwide by the things you've done. We're not that different from everyone else. We just have other ways of getting what we want, love." I said and he nodded. "I guess that's true."

I leaned back against the wall and studied him. "Imagine if you became one of us. I mean, that's impossible, you're too justice-loving. But just imagine." I said and a faint smile found its way to my lips. "Imagine if you were as insane as I am." I smiled.

"You're insane?" L looked at me with a raised brow. "I'm classified as criminally insane. I think the psychiatrists are wrong, though. I know exactly what I'm doing, so I can't be insane. Criminally is the part they got right, though." I laughed. He just stared.

"I didn't see it before..." He said and my smile faded. "Didn't see what?" I asked. "You're a psychopath." He said and I sighed. "You know, I never liked that word. I like 'ecstatic criminal' a lot more." I said and his eyes never left my face.

"Alright. Fine. I'm a classified, diagnosed, certified, whatever you wanna call it, psychopath. Got a problem with it?" I said and he shook his head. "No." He sighed, and I downed my drink. "Okay." I said, looking at the empty glass.

"I'll be back..." I sighed, walking off to get another. An arm suddenly looped through mine and pulled me away. "Oh, not again..." I sighed.

"Again? This has happened before?" A familiar English accent said, in English. I looked up to a handsome, tan man. I smiled widely. "You often get dragged around at parties?" A dark brown haired man asked, walking up. I smiled wider, if possible.

"Where's Jinx?" I asked. "She's busy." "Couldn't make it." "Sends her condolences." "And her love." They took turns saying it. "I thought I'd never see you two again." I said, they were now walking me to the bar. "Well here we are!" "We just couldn't stay away." "Had to make sure you were safe." "And that you were doing well." They said.

"Miss H is certainly doing well. She's number one criminal in Japan!" The bartender said. I slid him my glass and he refilled it. "We're so proud." "So is Jinx."

"Are you two staying here? In Japan?" I asked. "For a bit." "You can meet up with us tomorrow." "Jinx will be there." "By the ice cream shop at eleven." "See you, H!" They said and walked off. I smiled and turned around to grab my drink and turned back to see L there.

"You're not going to go see them, are you?" He asked. "Of course I am." I smiled. "Why?"

"They're... Close to me. Very close." I sighed.
