"Everyone, eyes peeled. We're in grounder territory."
"Everything is grounder territory, Bellamy."
Bellamy and John were arguing once again, and as much as I enjoy hearing the sarcastic comebacks between the two, it was getting pretty annoying after a long six hour walk.
I looked over to John and saw that he was panting really hard, and his face was beat red. I swung my backpack in front of me to get the water bottle to give to him.
"I can't keep running, all right?" John stated to the group of us, mostly Bellamy, and stopped walking and placed his hands on his knees. I handed him the water bottle after I took a gulp myself. After a long sip, he started talking again. "We don't even know if the grounder Finn killed was telling the truth."
The grounder Finn killed.
That was something I never thought I'd hear in my life down on Earth. But I even managed to witness it.
Earth was getting reckless and I wasn't sure if I could deal with it.
"Keep moving," Finn said sternly, not looking back to where John was. He kept walking, but Bellamy grabbed his arm to stop him.
"We can give him a minute," Bellamy said, and I widened my eyes in shock and tried not to smirk. That was another thing I thought I'd never see. Bellamy being nice to John.
"No, we can't," Finn said harshly. "You heard what that grounder said. They'll outlive their usefulness."
"He said that when you pointed a gun to his temple," I countered, making Finn glare at me. His dark brown eyes nearly turned black from the anger.
"Look, you think I wanted to do that?" Finn asked me, his glare still firmly planted on his face. "He would've told his people we are coming, and our friends would be dead by the time we got there. Maybe that's something you can live with, but I can't."
"Finn, hey," Bellamy said calmly, trying to take Finn's hatred off of me. "You did what you think you had to do, but you are not yourself right now and I can't be here with another loose cannon."
"Didn't know Zen and you were having relationship problems," John teased, making Bellamy's jaw clench.
"He was talking about you, dumbass," Monroe told him.
"You think I don't know that, dumbass?" John shot back.
Everyone started arguing then, but I was too busy listening to the sound of something else. It was a strong buzzing sound; something that wasn't too familiar, but that I'd heard before. I walked closer to where the sound was coming from, and tripped over something, yet again.
When I looked down, I saw a dead body with flies hovering all over it. The smell was horrid; even more terrifying than the body itself. But I recognized him. He was from the Ark, one of the cooks.
"Your bread was awesome, man," I commented.
The flies then moved to another place just beside the cook. I followed them, out of curiosity, and noticed there was another body laying dead in the grass.
I took in my surroundings a bit better. I knew the Arc had fallen and split into different stations. Mecha had made it, but no one had heard from the others. Maybe that was because they were all dead. And I had just found one.
I went back to where Bellamy and the rest of the group was. They were still arguing, and Finn looked as if he was going to explode from standing there waiting. Bellamy looked as if he just sat through a three hour long geography class they had on the Arc. Those things were the definition of hell.
