*Set before Zen, Clarke, Bellamy and Octavia leave to find Finn and Murphy.*
"Clarke, if you don't tell me what is going on in Mount Weather, I will rip off this knee brace and slash it across your face."
I spent ten minutes following Clarke around, nearly losing her a few times from being overly slow. She had needed to share something with Bellamy and myself, but she stopped short of her sentence and said "I'll explain later."
"If I tell you, you will have to deal with the fact that you cannot travel far enough to do anything," Clarke told me honestly.
"Look," I started, walking towards the fellow blonde, "I could be set on fire and still travel to save my people. Your word is not going to stop me. Neither is Bellamy's. So please, feed my desperate mind just this once."
Clarke looked side to side, as if making sure no one could hear our conversation. It worried me that this information could be so toxic that the Sky People who only just came down to earth aren't strong enough to be told.
"Mount Weather... it's not what it's made out to be." Clarke grabbed my upper arms and pulled me aside.
"Yes... that's why you escaped... get to the juicy parts, Clarke."
"No, I mean, it's worse than I initially thought. I had a strong sense something was bad with that place, but I assumed it was just because we couldn't leave. That's until I got into the infirmary. There was a tube of blood going into one of the guys that live there, but there was so blood bag in sight."
A million ideas rushed through my head at once, as if I was having a horrifying nightmare. Was it an animal slaughter house? Blood pumped from the dead? The possibilities were endless, and scarier as they went on.
"I'm not going to like this... am I?" I asked cautiously.
"...no." Clarke took a deep breath before continuing. "I followed the tube along the wall, and into one of the large air vents. I went in, crawled to the other side of it, and found the source of the blood."
I wasn't sure if her pause after she spoke was to compose herself, or add suspense to her explanation. Either way, I was getting antsy, and as my legs shook, pain reached up all the way from my knee and into my hip. I didn't say anything, just bit my bottom lip and kept listening.
"They have grounders in cages; grounders hung upside down so their blood flows out faster. There's a chute to dump the bodies down to the reapers to take care of. Zen, they're trying to survive the radiation; trying to exchange their blood for the grounders'. They want to live outside."
I was surprised at myself for following along as she spoke excitedly and rushed. Blood transfusion... in the most inhumane way possible. When did our lives become of this? Death, murder, torture; the second the dropship hit earth soil we became warriors. Warriors at seventeen years of age, and we were doing better than the adults.
"Holy, son of a bitch," I mumbled, hitting my back against the cool wall of the Arc and sliding down onto my butt. "Why is this a thing? I would've loved to go all my life without taking on psychopaths in an underground ex-military base. Oh my god, the other forty delinquents! We're from the sky, those assholes are going to eventually figure out that our blood will work, too. Shit, that's why they took all of you in the first place!" I stopped speaking for a moment, trying to catch my breath from speaking too fast and thinking too hard. "What the hell are we going to do, Clarke?"
She slowly turned around to face me, but didn't glade down until a few seconds after.
"We draw their own blood."
So yeah... I realized I forgot to add in the part where Zen learns about Mount Weather and their satanic shit
So here you go, a small snippet of Zen and Clarke subtly arguing once again, yay
Sadly no Zellamy, but I promise some will come up soon! And it's almost time for Lexa to enter into Zen's story... hehehe *rubs hands together with evil grin* I CANT WAIT *RAINBOWS AND UNICORNS FLOAT BEHIND MY ANIME SELF PORTRAIT*
I would talk some more, but since this is such a short chapter, and it's three o'clock in the morning, I am going to hit the hay. I don't know when the next chapter will be finished, but it's almost done :) I love getting back into the writing mode. Zellamy feels are popping up again HAYE
