"Do you two know what laws you've broken, and what orders you've betrayed by doing this?"

Abby ended up finding out that the four of us went out in search of Finn and John. Major Byrne was in the room as well, scowling at me from across the table. She was just waiting for her chance to yell at me.

Bellamy stood beside me, and I could almost feel the pressure vibrating off of his body. He was firm as a rock, too stressed about accidentally hitting me or doing something wrong in front of the new chancellor. For once, he wasn't standing a couple inches in front of me, our shoulders opposite. He was completely in line with my body, not trying to protect me in any way. It made my heart drop.

"We did what you wouldn't do," I commented with a calm but stern voice. Abby's mouth twitched before continuing to scold us.

"You stole guns, messed with the fences, left the camp, and brought back two people that were involved in a massacre in a grounder village that we could be attacked for."

"What were we supposed to do?" Bellamy retorted. "Leave them there until their leader came and killed both Finn and Murphy?"

"You were supposed to stay inside the fences and listen to your orders." Abby's face started getting red. She was the type of person to get overly upset to the point where she started to freak out because she was freaking out. It was one thing I've been training myself not to do.

"Zen, you'll be given a punishment for this. Bellamy, you'll have to put in work hours with the guards," Abby informed us.

A punishment? What sort of 'punishment' did she have in mind? Shock lashes were a big thing up on the Arc... were they really going to bring all that down to the ground?

"The whole thing was my idea. I asked Zen to come along," Bellamy explained to Abby. Was he taking the blame for this? Lying right to Abby's face? I begged him to let me go. He would've never let me with my knee if I didn't bug him for a good couple hours. "Zen doesn't need punishment. She didn't voluntarily go."

"Bell-"

"Leave her out of it."

Abby contemplated for a moment. She knew damn well that I did voluntarily go, she was many things but she wasn't stupid. She saw how Bellamy was when I got shot in the knee. But I think she was willing to throw me a bone. Hopefully not in any weak spot on my body.

"Fine. Zen, you are pardoned-"

"Chancellor, she needs to be-"

"Major Byrne, it's been dealt with. Bellamy will do time with you and Zen will not be committed. That is final."

Abby walked out of the room then, Major Byrne following closely behind. But not before giving me a death glare.

"You didn't have to do that," I said to Bellamy in a quiet tone. He slowly looked down at me, but then changed his focus right away.

"You've gone through enough," is all he said.

I started to walk out the door, but I turned around just before.

"Thanks," I said to him. He nodded back. I could've talked to him then, but I wanted to see Raven's point of view first.

It was killing me to be this way with him... even before we started- going out, I guess you could say, we'd always have a good vibe between us. This awkward sensation in the air breaks my heart. One of us would've said a witty comment throughout that interrogation process, even afterwards just between us, but we were both scared to say something to each other.

I hated it.

I heard drilling, and saw tiny yellow sparks fly into the air. Raven must've been working on something Sinclair's asked about. Or she could've been fixing a mistake Wick made. The latter seemed more reasonable.
