IT ALMOST WORKED
the walking dead !
season 4 episode 1 !
HOPE. she'd lost that emotion for a long time, for each time hope had settled within her chest; things went bad. life made her resent the word, at times she wished she was able to erase the word completely. it made her feel silly, hoping for a better world, hoping that the death would stop, it never would. her whole life now revolved around a shitty world and everyone around her dying.she cherished the people she still had, held them close to her heart, because she didn't know when she'd see them for the very last time. she had mourned for months, she had grieved and truly processed what had happened, what she'd gone through, who she'd lost. rather then shutting down, she forced herself up each day, well, rather carl would practically drag her from her cell every morning, forcing her to start her day.
he claimed he couldn't watch his sister fall into the same slump she'd been in nearly a year ago. she'd be lying if she said she didn't appreciate him forcing her up, rather then letting herself dwell in her own thoughts.
the prison had began to buzz with life, after they'd brought the survivors from woodbury to their home, they began to grow a proper community. crops grew high, animals had been captured and locked inside of pens, and people lit the prison up with a bright sunshine. their happiness radiating off of them, even in dire times, most still somehow found a way to be happy.
her boots hit against the concrete, a small smile on her face as she skipped to the green women. maggie smiled in response as the girl sat across from her, the teen hadn't been much of a people person since they began to bring people in, she lingered with those she'd known since the beginning.
she brought her fork to her mouth, eating the deer meat daryl had brought back. maggie peered behind the girl, nodding to the eyes that followed her every movement. "don't. i already know." she mumbled, side eyeing a man who walked past her, she shook her head, pushing her hair behind her shoulders. "you should talk to him." maggie told, nodding her head slowly, she pushed her empty bowl away from herself.
the grimes girl merely shook her head, he'd been the one to shut her out, again. it hurt worse then the first time, perhaps it was because she'd finally come to terms with how she felt for him. "are you going on the run today?" colette questioned softly, chewing on the meat within her mouth, a brow quirked at the women who shook her head. "not this time, glenn says it's dangerous." maggie told softly, the girl nodded, she kissed her teeth. "at least he cares" she told softly, smiling at the women who nodded her head.
colette looked to the fence line, a sigh leaving her lips. "we've gotta work double time today, or else that fence is gonna.." colette trailed off, making a crashing noise with her mouth, wide eyed as she stared at maggie. the women slowly nodded her head, "ya kill one and five more take its place." maggie mumbled, shaking her head, the grimes girl nodded. "just another problem to add to the list, the very long list." she added, she planted her hands atop the table, grasping her empty bowl, "i'll see you later." she mumbled, walking past the women and towards carol. she playfully bumped into daryl, a teasing grin on her face as she set the empty bowl down. "you best watch yourself." he told, pointing a finger at the girl who sarcastically nodded her head.
