A MOTHER IS safety net. the one person they'd know without a doubt would come to their side in heart beat. risking it all for their child, and lee wondered if that was how his own mother had been. if she'd ever protected him against the cruel world, if she had put him above herself.

she'd left when he was young, two to be exact, he had to recollection of her. he couldn't remember her face, or the tone of her voice, he wished he could. perhaps it would've made looking for her a lot easier. he wondered if they had the same eye color, or if he resembled her in even the slightest bit. rick used to tell him he did, that lee reminded him of his mother. it was hard to believe when he didn't have any memories of her.

when he was younger, and his own father wouldn't talk about her, lee would go to rick. the man who had known his mother, and that was how he learned little bits and pieces of her. each time they spoke rick was always sure to mention how much she loved lee, how he was her pride and joy, but it never did feel like it. if that was truly the case, and she cared so much for him, why'd she walk out on them. why'd she leave?

he couldn't remember much, but he would faintly recall when she'd sing to him, she sung everyday, before bed it was the same song. as strange as it sounded to him, he couldn't remember lyrics, but he often found himself whistling the tune.

his arms were crossed over his chest, the black shirt he wore snug against his arms. beth swung the bared door open, glenn and carl both rushed inside. blood splattered on their faces, and heavy breaths escaping their lips. "boil room tomb is full of walkers again." glenn huffed out, heavy breaths escaping his lips, lungs working over time to catch a breath of air. lee shifted on his legs, "that whole section had been cleared." beth told, slamming the door shut. "it's a steady stream of walkers." carl told, shoving his gun into his holster.

lee watched as natalia grabbed her brother, looking his arms over, his neck face. she let out a breath of relief, lee turned back to glenn. "we're wasting time. the governor is supposedly on his way, and we're stuck in here with walkers." hershel told, lee glanced to the man. a small sigh escaping his lips, "trapped between a rock and a hard place." carol pipped up, arms crossed as she neared the others, cole pursed her lips.

"for the last time, running is not an option." glenn told sternly, voice slightly wavering. cole clicked her tongue shaking her head, "that's not your call to make glenn." natalia told, rolling her shoulders as she stared at the rhee man. "then who's is it? ricks, i don't know if you've noticed or not nat but your dad isn't exactly stable enough to be making decisions." glenn told, shrugging as he threw his arms out to the side. limbs falling back and hitting against his sides with soft thuds, "and neither are you!" natalia snapped, voice raising with anger flowing through her veins, brows furrowed at the man who only stared at her. "you are so fueled with anger that you are willing to put everyone's life's on the line." she told, the man clenched his jaw at the girls words. lee pursed his lips, tongue gliding over the chapped skin.
