FOOD HAD ALWAYS BEEN scarce, they'd gone days without food during the winter. fallen asleep with rumbling stomachs, and mouths as dry as cotton balls. it was more often then not that they'd go hungry, body's weak and stomachs growling for any sort of food. what little food they did find, most would go to lori, for she was feeding not only herself but also the baby she carried. they couldn't risk anything happening to either lori nor her baby, it would kill any hope the group had.
natalia stood watching as they wheeled in carts of canned food, along with bags of different perishables gave a new sense of hope, a sense of happiness and relief. they wouldn't have to go to bed hungry, go days without a proper meal. it gave a small feeling of hope that they'd be okay. perhaps the prison would be a safe haven. it was sad that food was the main thing that brought them happiness. she found it rather upsetting that the mere idea of not going hungry made her happy, yet it was one of the things she took for granted her whole life.
they pushed the food into the cell block, the carts lined up against the grey wall. they'd began to put the food into a cell, slowly picking the food off the cart and organizing it within the small empty cell. natalia pushed herself off the wall, watching as her father and lee made a bee line for the cell block door. "we're actually helping them clear a cell block? what we're gonna be neighbors now, maybe ask if we can barrow a cup of flour?" natalia questioned as she caught up to the two, rick came to a hault, lee looked to rick in confusion as to if why they eruptly came to a stop. her brows were raised in question, she didn't like the idea of the prisoners being so close to them. it sounded may of sounded selfish but she didn't even want them in the prison, she was terrified of what they could do.
rick placed his hands on his hips, looking to the girl who raised a brow at her father. her eyes danced between her fathers in confusion. "you're not coming with us." he told, the teen scuffed, shaking her head at his words. she mimicked his stance, hands on her hips as she met his eyes. "you're kidding. why does he get to go and i can't?" natalia questioned, quirking a brow in disbelief at her father. rick licked his lips at his daughters words. he'd already prepared for her to be upset with his decision, yet it was final. he wouldn't back down as he'd done with the fence run, he couldn't risk it. "you know i can handle myself! i've proved that all winter." nat reasoned, annoyed beyond no belief. she'd done extra throughout the winter, she was more then capable of killing the dead, she could do it with her eyes closed at this point. rick knew that too, he had no doubt his child could handle herself.
it wasn't her capabilities he was worried about, it was the prisoners, rick slowly shook his head at the girls words. "i know that. it's not that i don't think you're capable." rick began, natalia raised a brow, shrugging as she egged him to continue. "we don't know anything about them, natalia, and we don't know what they did to be here." the walsh boy piped up, looking down to the shorter girl who looked to him with a glare, yet she couldn't deny the sting she felt in her chest upon him calling her natalia, rather then talia. "i wasn't talking to you, leon. go away." she snapped, turning her attention back to her father. lee scuffed, turning on his heels walking through the bared door to where daryl and tdog stood, with the prisoners.
