Theo and Zeke carried Lyra and Val back to their hammocks - the mage holding the researcher and the blond holding the ginger. "It feels like having little sisters, don't you think?" Zeke whispered as he pulled a blanket over the other human's legs.
"Mm... I used to have a little sister." Theo responded, turning to the other.
"Used? What happened to her?"
The other man looked down slightly, deep in thought before walking over to a crate to sit on. "She ran away. I don't know why. She was a complicated person - no matter how much my parents and I tried to support her, she would just dig herself into a deeper and deeper hole..."
Zeke wandered to a crate opposing the mage's and plopped himself down. "What about her name?"
"Melody..." Theo finally cracked a smile.
"That's a nice name. Was she always so... you know?"
"No. She used to want to spend every second with me and our parents. People would call us twins even though she was a few years younger than me because we looked so similar. Same eyes. Melody didn't have vitiligo and her skin was slightly lighter than mine as well as her hair. More brown than black."
"What about your parents?"
"What about them?" he shrugged in response.
"What were they like? Nice, strict, easy-going?"
Theo had a small but fond smile across his face. "The best anyone could ask for. They disciplined but not too harsh. Gave us nice things but not too much to avoid spoiling us."
"Ah, so you could've been spoiled? Is your real title prince?" Zeke joked.
"No," he giggled quietly. "They were well off. Respected professors of a fancy academy."
"Is that why you're smart?" the blond leaned forward slightly.
