Krystal was stunned by Lisa’s words. She had always thought that Lisa was a brainless idiot who only knew how to scream and shout. She wasn’t even able to clear her name when she was framed by others. Previously, she was unlucky for letting herself get recorded by Lisa. Never again.
Krystal, who finally came to her senses, had her face flushed red. She took a few steps forward, raised her hand, and was about to slap Lisa. She even said, “What a slut, selling your body to seal a deal. Who do you think you are? To be able to steal other people’s projects?”
Lisa’s eyebrows were tightly knitted. Krystal was unrelentless in her attempt to stain Lisa’s name.
Pa! There was a crisp sound.
Krystal’s palm landed firmly on Lisa’s face. Lisa was a little stunned when she felt the burning pain on her face. Didn’t she block it with her hand?
Looking at her palm, Lisa realized that she had not been taking care of her body the past month. Hence, she was not strong enough to block Krystal’s hand.
Faced with Krystal’s mocking smile, Lisa felt a surge of anger in her heart. She raised her hand and was ready to slap her back.
“What are you doing!”
Suddenly, a voice sounded.
Lisa stopped and looked towards the person who had come. Lisa realized that there were actually quite a few people staring at the two of them. They were pointing at the them, speechless.
Kai’s face was pale as he walked between the two of them. When he saw the palm print on Lisa’s face, he looked at Krystal and signalled for her to leave first. He came to the company right after he was discharged from the hospital. He did not come here for other reasons. He wanted to see if the company’s surveillance cameras had captured the person who hit him, which was to no avail.
Krystal glared fiercely at Kai. When she thought of the reason why Kai was looking for Lisa, she could not help but reveal a malicious smile. She had heard about a foreign client who liked women like Lisa.
Lisa vaguely felt that something was wrong. Why would Krystal listen to Kai? And leave her and Kai alone?
“Wait.” Lisa opened her mouth to stop her.
Krystal turned her head. Lisa rushed forward and gave her a tight slap.
“You!”
Seeing that the two of them were about to start fighting again, Kai hurriedly stood between them and asked someone take Krystal away.
“Lisa, wait a moment.”
Just as Kai asked someone to take Krystal away, he realized that Lisa was also about to leave, so he hurriedly stopped her.
“What’s the matter?” Lisa’s anger had not yet subsided, and when she saw Kai, she still had an angry look plastered on her face
“Lisa, you are at work. Pay attention to your attitude.” When Kai saw Lisa’s appearance, he immediately assumed the stance of a leader.
Taking a deep breath, Lisa clenched her fists tightly and tried hard to calm her voice. “May I ask what is the matter?”.
“Follow me to my office.”
Lisa was very against going to Kai’s office, but she could not say anything in front of everyone.
The two of them walked in one after the other and closed the door to prevent curious gazes from outside.
Lisa kept a safe distance from Kai so that she could leave at any time if Kai made any inappropriate moves.
Only when the two of them were alone did Lisa notice Kai’s abnormality. He had just been discharged from the hospital, but he seemed to still look unwell. Lisa could not help but guess.
“Sit.” Kai lifted his usual smiling face, but when paired with his pale face, it gave off a gloomy feeling.
“No need, just tell me what you have to say!”
After going through so much, both of them knew each other’s character, so there was no need for pleasantries.
“Lisa! You know that Krystal has a bad temper, so I apologize to you on her behalf. We work in the same company, don’t make things uncomfortable.”
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave first. I still have work to do.”
Seeing Lisa’s disrespect, a hint of viciousness flashed in Kai’s eyes. However, his expression did not change. “I called you here because I have something to say. Our company is currently in contact with a foreign client. I’ve already applied to bring you along with the higher-ups.”
“What?” Lisa was shocked and subconsciously asked.
“This is a very good opportunity to learn.” Kai ignored Lisa’s surprise and continued to say.
“I’m not going.”
Kai smiled casually, ignoring Lisa’s refusal.
“The company was still considering whether to let you go with me, but the company immediately agreed after you successfully sealed a deal. If you refuse, you must have a reason. When the time comes, the company will send someone to investigate the situation. You know that.”
Lisa’s face turned pale. She still did not have the ability to contend with Krystal and Kai, so she could not go against the company’s decision.
“Why are you so afraid? It’s not like I’m going to eat you up.”
Even though he said that, Kai’s gaze on Lisa was like maggots in her bones, making her feel nauseous.
“Supervisor Zhou, is there anything else? If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving.” Lisa did not want to stay here any longer.
“I’ll pick you up tonight. Dress ‘appropriately’.”
“There’s no need. Please send me the address. I’ll take a taxi.”
This time, Kai did not have much to say, he just sent her address. After all, the main event was at their destination.
