Chapter 90: I Promise You

It was the weekend. Lisa did not work overtime today. Instead, she stayed at home with Jungkook.

On the small sofa, Jungkook sat at the side reading a book. Lisa lay on his lap and flipped through a document.

After reading for a while, Lisa was in a daze again. Her eyes could not focus.

In fact, from yesterday onwards, Jungkook had noticed Lisa’s abnormality and asked her if something had happened.

Lisa hesitated for a long time but still voiced out the doubts in her heart. This time, not only did she tell him about her and Krystal, but she also told him about the conflict between CEO Song and the Deputy General Manager.

“Two nights ago, when I said that I was going to Jing City to expand the business, CEO Song specifically asked me if I wanted to go. I answered yes. But I don’t understand why CEO Song is sending me there? There are many people in the company who are more senior and more capable than me. Why is she asking me?”

After listening to Lisa’s words, Jungkook pondered for a moment and asked, “Do you think that your leader asked you to go because of those scandals about the Lin family?”

Seeing that he had spoken out her guess so straightforwardly, Lisa silently agreed with his words.

“I can’t think of anything else. Could it be that CEO Song chose me because I went against Krystal? This is simply impossible!”

“Indeed, it’s impossible,” Jungkook thought to himself. However, he had already guessed Dara’s thoughts.

Although Lisa was a newcomer, her abilities were not bad. She had a lot of room for development. It was worth Dara taking the risk.

However, there was another more important reason besides this. It was Taehyung .

Lisa was the person Taehyung  had named to be taken care of. With the double push from her and Taehyung , there was a high chance that her trip to the capital city would be successful.

As for the scandals about the Lin family, Jungkook curled the corner of his mouth into a mocking smile.

“Jungkook, are you in a daze?”

Lisa put down the paper and looked at the man holding the book.

Jungkook gently stroked Lisa’s long hair and replied, “No.”

“I’m just wondering what kind of person your leader is.”

“You mean CEO Song?” Lisa asked.

“Yes.”

Lisa recalled the few times she had interacted with Dara, she said, “I think that CEO Song is very amazing! She started her own business at the age of 30, founded Hong Jing, and grew the company to a remarkable extent. She is very good to her employees. She would also send colleagues home when everyone was working overtime. Actually, I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but I feel that CEO Song really likes me.”

At the end of her sentence, Lisa secretly laughed. She didn’t know why she had such a feeling.

As he watched Lisa’s beaming face, Jungkook’s expression became even gentler.

“Since you have such a good impression of CEO Song, why do you still think that she asked you to go to Jing City because of the scandal about the Lin family?”

“I had no choice! I was just curious! It’s all because of that big mouth of Krystal’s! She deliberately came to me and told me that the project was the Lin family in Jing City’s, causing me to think so much.”

Lisa grumbled unhappily, but it was this sentence that made Jungkook notice the key information.

“You said that Krystal specifically told you about it?” Jungkook frowned and asked.

“Yes.”

Thinking about it, Lisa also noticed something unusual. Why did Krystal deliberately mention the Lin family to her?

If she had not listened to Krystal’s words, she would not have searched for news about the Lin family. Instead, she would have focused all her energy on the project.

“Krystal wants me to have suspicions about CEO Song?”

“Maybe it’s more than that.” Jungkook’s expression was slightly solemn as he continued, “If something really happened, who would be the first person that you would think of who set the trap?”

“CEO Song?” Lisa almost cried out in shock.
No wonder Krystal wanted to say that to her. She knew that Krystal had bad intentions, but did CEO Song not have that kind of intention?

The moment Lisa thought it through, a chill suddenly rose from the bottom of her heart. She did not dare to trust anyone right now. She had to be very careful during this trip to the capital city.

Looking at Lisa who was like a startled bird, Jungkook could not help but feel his heart ache.
It was not just what Lisa had said. Jungkook had other thoughts regarding working with the Lin family. He needed to get someone to investigate further.

Jungkook knew what Lisa was afraid of. However, he could not reveal the reason why Dara was taking care of her. Perhaps it was not that he could not but that he did not dare. He had to make all the preparations before he laid his cards on the table with Lisa.

Holding her in his arms, Jungkook comforted her softly, “Don’t be afraid. I will be by your side.”

“Okay.” Lisa replied.

Recently, she had been praying non-stop, praying that Jungkook would never know her identity in his life, so that she could be by his side as Eunbi.

“Jungkook, it will be very troublesome to go to the capital city this time. You have to protect me well!” Lisa placed her hand in Jungkook’s and said in a gentle voice.

The man took advantage of the situation and shook her hand. He smiled and replied, “Okay, I promise you.”
