9. Wanted

Paiges Pov:

We leave the house. Following Winston. I'm still not okay enough. So Curtis continues to hold me. I close my eyes and snuggle into him, avoiding others looking at me.
We finally leave the village. I feel like I can breathe better. Winston is quietly walking ahead of us. Every now and then, he'll stop to make sure in fine. Which is much appreciated. We walk into the forest a bit.

"So your group was what I smelled earlier." Curtis says.

"Most likely yes. We decided to make camp before returning." He explains.

"Um, is the Beast City far?" I ask Winston. Hopefully, he will talk to me.

"It is.. it's about three days of travel from here." Winston looks away and blushes.

"Can we move to the Beast City?" I look at my hubby's. I honestly don't want to be near Parker and Bai.

"We will go anywhere you want to Paige." Harvey smiles, touching my arm.
I look up at Curtis, and he gives a nod.

"Can we travel with you, Winston? That way, Paige will be safe." Harvey says

"Yes, we can wait a day. Then we can continue our travel."

"Thank you, Winston." I tell him he just nods, looking away. Oh... he really doesn't like me.
We get to the camp, and I'm let down by Curtis. I'm feeling a bit better to walk.  Curtis and I go to pick fruit. I keep peeking at Winston he's so handsome. He just won't look at me, though. I sigh..

"You know, if you ask him, he'd probably say yes." Curtis whispers in my ear.

"He doesn't like me.. he won't even look at me."

"Do you want to bet?" His deep voice makes me shiver. He's going to be the death of me, I swear. I nod, entranced by his eyes.

"Okay, but if I do this, I want a day of just cuddling." I giggle.

"Deal, my love." Curtis picks me up, and we enjoy the sights for a bit while talking. After we get near Harvey, who's looking at patients and Winston, who's close by. Curtis goes up to Winston.

"Can you hold her she's a bit afraid still. I need to get something." Without waiting for Winston to reply, I get forced into Winston's arms. Smooth Curtis... I look up shyly at Winston, giving an apologetic look. Curtis slithers off to who knows where. Winston, being the way he is, carries me gently.

"Um... I'm sorry.." I hide my face. Poor Winston.

"It's not an issue, female."

"Paige.." I tell him. I hear a slight purr. I look up at Winston. Does he really like me?..
We stand in silence for a bit. Come on, Paige. I talk myself up.

"Um Winston?" I get the courage.

"Hmm?" He looks down at me.

"Willyoubemymate?" I blush, letting out a shaking breath. Winston looks confused.

"Paige? I didn't catch what you asked."

"Will you be my mate?" I asked slower but still a bit fast. Winston freezes. He starts the blush. Oh? He's like me.

"Winston?" He looks at me shocked.

"Are.. are you sure you want me?" I nod.

"Yes. If you want me to," I quietly tell him.

"Yes!" He holds me closer. I wrap my arms around his neck. I lay my head on his shoulder. His tail is wagging side by side excitedly.
Curtis comes back, but Winston doesn't hand me back he just holds me purring.
I smile at Curtis. He's right. I'll just listen to my hubby's for now on. I start to yawn a bit, and it gets harder to keep my eyes open.

Winston's Pov:

Is this real? I have the female I've wanted. Paige.. she's perfect. She seems a bit scared of others. I need to make sure she's protected. Why would she want me? I see her mate Curtis come back he looks at Paige, making sure she's safe and comfortable. I don't want to give her back, yet. I just want to hold onto her until she changes her mind about me being her mate.
She nuzzles closer to me, and her breathing becomes slower. She fell asleep in my arms. I can't believe it.
I slowly rub her back. I'll do anything for her.
Then it hits me. The way she is. No... she couldn't have been captured by flame city right?.. I look at Curtis.
I talk low to where we can only hear.

"She wasn't mistreated, was she?" I ask, looking straight into his eyes.
Curtis hisses and nods. I let out a low growl.

"You need to stop, or you will scare her." Curtis reminds me. I nod, letting out a breath. So she was mistreated.. I hold her tighter. Any male approaches I lowly growl at them. Now I understand why Curtis and Harvey are so protective of her.
After Harvey is done, they start to walk back.

"She already accepted you. So you can bring her home with us." I nod and follow them back. We get there. I nod at them and take her to the furs. I start to lay her down, not wanting to wake her, but she won't let me go. I give a small chuckle. Curtis hisses, but he just lets it go. So I sit with her in my arms still. Harvey and Curtis begin cooking. I watch in fascination. Why are they using medicine.

"Is she sick?" I ask.
Harvey gives a chuckle.

"No, but the food tastes good this way. Paige showed us. She likes to eat it." Harvey explained. Nodding, I rub her back a bit more.
When the food is done, Curtis rubs Paiges hair.

"Paige food is done wake up." He whispers. She starts to move a bit.
She sits up with her eyes still partially closed. Harvey picks her up from my arms. He starts to feed her. She slowly eats. They start to eat, too, and Curtis nods to the wood with food on it. So I take a little bit and eat.
This is really good. My tail wags. I start eating. Every bite I look at Paige. She's so cute. I'm lucky.

Paiges Pov:

I slowly chew. I rub my eyes a bit.

"Good," I groggily say the best I can.
Gosh, I'm so tired. It's been a long day.
I finish eating, and Harvey lays me in Winston's arms again.

"Sleep, we will pack." Harvey kisses my head. I snuggle into Winston.

I fall asleep. Today was quite a long day.
I wake up and sit up fast. I look around the unrecognizable area. I'm laying on gold steps. It looks like a pyramid almost. I get up, holding myself. Scared to move. I see a beastman walk past me. He has blue long hair, but he's not wearing furs. He has a gold and blue looking toga on.

"Um.. where..are we?" I lightly ask, but he keeps walking up the steps as if he doesn't hear me. I hear a loud roar below. I jump and run to the blue haired man. I grab his arm barely, and he turns around, looking at me shocked. Wow, he's the most gorgeous man I've seen. He puts his hand to my cheek and then through my chest. It freaks me out. I start to panic. I look at my hands, and I'm like a ghost.

"Paige?" He asks, but it's like an echo I can barely hear. I look at him wide-eyed.

"Am I dead?" I start crying. No.. no... I can't die. Harvey, Curtis, Winston! No gods, please.
I start to fall through the ground.
The blue haired man tries to help me, but he can't touch me.
No help, please!!! I shreik
Sitting up really fast in Winston's arms. A dream? I catch my breath.

Yeah! Winston is gonna make with our Paige. Anyways... I'll dance myself out.
