5. Meet Curtis

Paige Pov:

We walk out of our room and into the living room area. I see a very defeated looking Curtis sitting in front of the fire with his head down.

"Um.. Curtis? Thank you for the emrald. Also, I'm not afraid of you. It's just that I'm not used to touching unless it was being hit. So it scared me." I explain as I walk over a bit closer to him and sit down. He watches my every movement.

"You're not afraid of me? I'm sorry I scared you. I won't do it again. Who did that to you?" I nod to him and smile.

"The ones who raised me.." he hisses, and I look up at him. He looks like he wants to kill.

"Where are they?" His eyes darken, and the slits of his eyes get thinner.

"They are far away. They can't even get to me now." I whisper out.

"Curtis, you'll scare Paige." Harvey tells him sternly. Curtis reels himself back and calms down.

"I've decided you will be my mate." Curtis tells me. Wait, isn't he supposed to be in waiting for Bai to take his shedding? What changed? This is weird.
I give him a questioning look.

"Wha? Why?" I blurt out.

"I've seen your leopard bring you to the village. Your scent is so sweet. When I saw you hurt, though. I felt a pull to help you and protect you. After seeing you with the leopard, I thought he hurt you or... well, I don't know what I was thinking. I wanted to steal you away and keep you to protect you. You're different from other females, your smell, your way of talking, how you treat him. I want that. I'm strong and I'll get you anything you want if you'll be my mate." He looks at me with determination in his eyes.

"Wow, um.. I will become your mate, but I also wish to have a few more mates. Also I need to tell you about myself first." He hisses at the more mates part, but I'll explain it to him. So.. an hour or so after explaining everything to him that I told Harvey he nods. He looked shocked as well to my estrous cycle. He asked a few questions, and I answered as truthfully as I could.

"I don't care about this female I'm supposed to be with. She's not you. I met you, not her, and you're mine." I now understand how stubborn this snake is. Okay, so I'm his, and he is mine.

"Okay, then I'll be your mate." I shyly tell him nervous a bit.

"I'll go hunt for my beautiful Paige." Curtis kisses my forehead and slithers out the front door, leaving me and Harvey shocked.

"Well, I have to say. I admire him he knows what he wants. Also, he has good taste." Harvey chuckles and kisses my lips quickly. I just sit there feeling heat on my face. I'm probably red as a tomato.

Harvey and i started going through his herbs cause I asked him if I could cook tonight. After a bit back and forth and puppy eyes. He gave in. So I asked him if I could use his medicines. Curiosity got his interests peaked. So I pulled out garlic, onion, salt, pepper, coriander, mustard seed, paprika, and parsley. I would use peppers, but if I recall, Curtis can't handle spice. So I make a more mild meat rub for his portion.

"Harvey, is there stone fruit nearby?" I ask him.

"Yes, but they aren't good to eat." Harvey tells me with a bitter look.

"Somehow, I believe he had a bad experience with them?" I giggle at his sour face.
He laughs and nods.

"Yeah, I was very hungry once, and I tried it." I laugh a bit harder, and Harvey hugs me from behind and laughs with me.
We go to collect stone fruits and a rock to make a pan out of also a few rounds of wood for plates and utensils. I spot a few things like wild carrots, tomatoes, and wild lettuce. I'm so glad I took the classes I did from school. I used to be a perfect straight A student cause it got me out of the house. I did anything to keep from going there. We had a cool survival class for our town, and students got to take it as an elective. And if I wasn't doing that, I was at the library. Although I know the method of a lot of things. I never honestly had hands-on experience  except foraging. Hallelujah! Cooking was also a big one. Since I cooked for my aunt, uncle, and cousins. They treated me like a maid. I hated it but I'm glad cause I can cook and now they don't have a cook. Makes me smile a little.
I see Harvey walk to me.

"Is this all you want? We can keep looking if you want." Harvey asks me.
Hmm, do I have everything? I don't have oil. Oh yeah! Bai figured out about oil in the story. Maybe it's the same?

"Hey Harvey, do you know of a tree that has oil in it?"

"Of course. Do you want me to get it?"

"Please? Thank you, Harvey!" I hug him.

"Of course it's this way." He leads me to a tree, and I kind of see it now from the story. Of course, it looks realistic here. Harvey cuts a piece of it off, and we start to head back. I see how much stuff Harvey is carrying, and I feel bad.
Once we get home, I hug him and kiss him.

"Thank you, Harvey. You're amazing." He blushes, and we get to work.
Curtis comes back with a huge boar.

"It's huge!" I say, and Curtis lowers his lips to my ear with a smirk.

"Theres other things that are huge too." He whispers. I feel his breath on my ear, and my face heats up.
He chuckles and slithers out to clean the boar. Harvey brings in the big cooking pot and a bowl of cooking oil.
As soon as Curtis comes back, I have the same talk to Curtis about me cooking. Finally giving in, I make dinner.
I plate all the food up and hand it out. I sit in between Curtis and Harvey. I take a bite and moan it's so good. I hear a hiss and low growl. I look at them confused.

"You'll be the death of me, Paige." Harvey lowly says.

"I can't wait to hear that moan while you're under me." Curtis says. I gasp and just focus on the food digging in.
I see them take a bite. Harvey's tail whips around, and his eyes get wide, and he digs in. Curtis takes a bite grins and closes his eyes, savoring the flavor. Aww.
They both compliment my cooking, and Harvey and Curtis want to learn now. So I told them I'll teach them. I stretch yawning. So Harvey takes me to bed. It's so nice not being in pain for once. On my way, I grab Curtis by his hand and pull him to bed with us. He looks a bit shocked. He lays down with us, and I'm in between two extremely handsome men. Thank you, Beast God. Thank you! I say to myself as Harvey rubs my hair and Curtis behind me hugging me.
