she had alot of questions and maddie answered all of them, i stayed by her side the entire time. it hurts my heart that she doesnt have anyone. well yes she has her friends, and her seemingly crappy boyfriend, but no adult in her life. after the nurse left a doctor came in. 

"so madeline, would you like your mother in the room for this part?" she questioned gesturing to me who was beside her clutching her hand in comfort. she just nodded. "well, it seems as though you were pregnant, about 2 weeks. but unfortunately this afternoon you have suffered through a miscarriage. you should expect heavy bleeding for the next 2 weeks and its importan-" madz seemed too blur out the rest of what he was saying and stare ahead as i listened to all the medical stuff. 

i could feel her racing heartbeat as i pulled her into my arms again. recognizing this made her start bawling. regardless of if she wanted the baby or not she no longer even had that option and i can only imagine how that feels. and at 16. 

"do you know what caused the miscarriage?" i asked wanting to know if there was any health concerns. 

"well there are many factors that could have lead to this, due to madelines age it very well could be from, underage alcohol consumption, intake of ibuprofen or other medications, stress, or her body just not being capable. as of right now the tests show there is no infections, concerning deformities or anything like that. she is perfectly healthy" the doctor explained and i nodded taking the information in. glad nothing else was wrong.

"we would like to keep you for a few hours for monitoring. is that okay?" she then turned her attention to madeline and she nodded looking exhausted.  

"thank you for coming scarlett" she said resting her head on my shoulder. 

"its no problem honey, are you hungry? do you want me to go get you something to eat?" i asked but she shook her head. 

"i dont think i could right now" 

"well its almost lunch time so i want you to try something soon okay?" i then asked and maddie nodded laying down on the bed. 

"you dont have to stay, i know you have better ways to be spending your day" she then said pulling the blankets over her shoulders

"i couldnt leave you alone. also, i was thinking. just for a few days while you're recovering you could come stay with me? we have a spare room and you need to be on bed rest and you cant really do that if you're by yourself" i could tell she was hesitant. "its up to you of course, i understand if you want to be left alone but i think it would be better, safer if you stayed with me" 

"do you have mac and cheese at your house?" i can tell you that was not what i was expecting her to say. 

"yes, well the ingredients to make it" 

"okay, ill stay. if its no bother. if i overstay my welcome seriously send me home i wont be offended" 

"you're welcome anytime. you know that" i assured her. 

"im going to grab some food, what will you eat" i asked her. she sunk into the bed more clearly not feeling like it but the doctor said she had to. 

"something simple" she requested and i nodded heading out. on the way to the restaurant place in the hospital i got a call from colin. 

"hey, you said madeline needed you but its been hours, are you guys okay?" he asked and i could hear rose watching her show in the background. 

"yeah sorry, um were in the hospital. im not telling you why, but we should be home in a few hours. shes staying with us for a few days too" 

"yes ma'am" he laughed at me telling him "but seriously, you promise everything is okay?"

"it will be, please make sure we have mac n cheese at home too" i requested and he didnt question it telling me he will go pick up anything i needed from the shops. 

when i got downstairs i asked for the plain kids meal which was mash potato, steamed vegtables and a meat of choice. i just got chicken as thats probably the least flavorful when plain. i got myself a coffee and ate a refrigerated sandwich as her food cooked. 

when it was done i also bought her a drink before heading back. 

she was almost asleep on the bed but i could tell she was on her phone. "am i supposed to tell caleb what happend?" she asked me sitting up and putting the dish on her lap. 

"do you want to tell him?" i asked back and she stayed quiet shrugging her shoulders. 

she ate in silence before laying down and falling asleep. a nurse came in and asked me a few questions and i ended up following her to sort out payment and everything. once that was done i was told she would check in every now and again before letting us go at 3pm. 

after spending way too long in the hospital we were finally cleared to go home. she was still extremely tired so i didnt start much of a conversation. i could tell she wasnt in the mood for talking. i think it was finally hitting her harder, the weight of the whole situation. 

she fell asleep only 2 blocks from my house. so i called colin to come and get her. he easily lifted her from the car as i grabbed the stuff and held the door open for him. he took her to the spare room and after putting my stuff down i followed him, made sure she was comfortable and all tucked in before putting her phone on charge and leaving the room with the door just slightly ajar. 

when i got back downstairs i see rose with one of her colouring books on the floor of the loungeroom. "and what have you gotten up to today?" i questioned her and she giggled. 

"mummy! your back!" she screamed happily. i smile at her just wondering who could ever hate their own kid.
