maddie slept right through dinner and was still asleep when i put the rose to bed at 8pm. i knew she needed her rest so i let her sleep and went to have a shower and wind down for bed. 

colin made the unfortunate mistake of coming into the bathroom as i was doing my skin care so he was quickly forced into it. with the face mask applied we both went to sit in our bedroom. i grabbed a book to wind down with, one my friend lizzie had recommended to me. 

colin was picking at his face mask while typing away on his computer. i hear the rain start to pick up outside. as the wind blows against the house. 

after 20 or so minutes we wash the face masks off and hop into bed. colin goes to sleep but i use a little reading light to keep reading. at 10pm i finally put the book down and scoot down in bed. i wrap one of colins arms around me as if hes going to steal all the blanket the least he could do was share some body heat. 

i couldnt sleep though. something was nagging at me. so, being paranoid i get up and check all the doors are locked in the house. then i check on the kids. 

opening the door to roses room i find her knocked out with her little limbs spread out around the bed. walking over i carefully tuck her back into her blankets taking one off incase she was hot. she didnt even stir so i laugh slightly at the memories of her being a good sleeper. as dangerous as it could be i did not complain with her 12 hour full sleeps as a toddler and baby. 

i then went to check on madeline and now i know why as she is up frantically stripping the bed in the dark as quietly as she could. when she saw me in the doorway she physically jumped. "scarlett im so sorry, i didnt mean to" she said still fixing the bed. 

when i flicked the light on i saw that she had accidently bleed through to the sheets. its not a big deal. it happens. i assured her this but she kept apologising. so i said i would be right back and i went to my room to get her some pyjamas, then to the linen cupboard for some fresh sheets. when i returned to her room she wasnt there but i saw the light on in the laundry. 

there she was sat infront of the washer trying to figure out how to turn it on. "ill sort that out, go have a shower, its okay"  i said grabbing her hand to pull her up from the floor. 

"im really sorry, i didnt. i" she was crying so i pulled her into a hug. "please dont be mad"

"maddie seriously, you're okay. im not mad" i assured her rubbing her back. she left and i turned the washing machine on. 

before making her bed up again. the stain wasnt even big and it didnt get on any of the blankets or anything. regardless i made it all fresh and waited for her to come back. the long pants i had given her hung loosely on her waist and the singlet was the same, loosely hanging from her shoulders. she seemed calmer though, which was the goal of the shower. 

she climbed back in bed and i could tell she was about to apologise again. but i started talking before she could. 

"how are you feeling?" i asked and she shrugged. 

"like a part of me is missing" she said looking at her hands "which is stupid, i didnt even know i was pregnant till today" 

"its not stupid" i assured her. we continued to talk until i could tell she was getting tired again. with a yawn i said goodnight and told her to come get me if she needed anything. after promising she would i went back to my bedroom and feel right asleep. 

the next morning i woke up at 8am, a bit later than i usually would but i had taken 2 days off work for a family emergency. when i woke up i found rose in my bed which confused me as she should be on the bus to school already. 

"and why are you not at school?" 

"its teachers day remember! it means no kids" she squealed in excitement. i rubbed my eyes remembering. she crashed into me after jumping on the bed and i grabbed her ankles hanging her from my back. safely, of course. 

"where did rose go?" i said spinning in circles, her giggles filled the room. "is she over here?" i said running to the other side of my room. 

"im right here silly!" she exclaimed after a minute. i dropped her to the bed and a smile never left her face. 

"guess what rosebud" i said grabbing her hand to take her downstairs. "remember mummys friend maddie, from work" 

"of course i do, we're besties remember"

"right of course, well she will be staying with us for a few days. is that okay with you"

"YAY, that means we get to play all the time, and she can watch movies with me" 

"honey, maddie is" i paused not knowing what to say. "not feeling so well right now, so i dont know if she will play with you allll the time" i tried to not let her be disappointed. 

"thats okay, hopefully she will watch frozen with me when she feels better" she said swinging on our kitchen chairs. i nodded and got her to start talking about her friends instead which didnt take long. my girl loves to talk. 

i made her her breakfast and made me a large cup of coffee. while we were in the kitchen i hear someone come downstairs and smiled as the teenager walked in. 

"good morning" she said shyly

"good morning madz" i smiled at her. rose was quickly by her side hugging her legs. maddie held her head and i could tell she was going to reach down to give her a hug but was in too much pain. 

"you dont happen to have a heat pack or something?" she asked me and i nodded saying i would be back. "can i have some coffee?" she then asked once i was half way up the stairs. i told her yes even though i dont think she should be drinking it. 

when i get downstairs i heat it up while she stands with her cup of coffee. "maddie will you watch frozen with me" rose asked shyly. 

"of course rose" she then looked to me to ask if it was alright and i nodded with a smile. rose took her by the hand and lead her to our movie room while i made some more pancakes for maddie along with the heat pack. 

i brought it all in and left them to it as i had to go to my office across the hall to do some more marketing for my brand.

an hour or so later i go to make myself a tea and catch the girls turning the movie into a full sing along.
