trying to talk

madeline's pov

after work i asked scarlett to take me back to my place. i could tell she was hesitant but i needed my space.
"thank you for these past few days. and thank you for being there for me" i said once she got to my apartment.

"it's nothing honey, please call me if you need anything" she said and i nodded getting out.

in the elevator i passed the girls that lived next door to me and they commented on how they hadn't seen me in ages.

in my apartment i instantly turned on some music. a clean home is a clean mind. so, needing to focus i left my phone on the coffee table and cleaned.

i snapped the pregnancy tests in half before putting them in the bin and continued deep cleaning my home. the shower glass, the mirror, the windows.

everything.

it was 7:43 when i finished cleaning and i sat on my couch. hearing my phone buzz on the table makes me sink to the floor before picking it up.

a few tik toks, a few messages. i ignored them all for now and ordered some sushi and gyoza. way too much for one person.

i'm sorry we have barely hung out recently. i feel like it's my fault.

i'm not sure, online school is a lot easier with work and everything but i might come tomorrow

and then i turned my phone off. my food was supposed to be here in 45 minutes so i had a quick shower.

and by the time i was done there was a knock at my door. so now with my feast i decided to pair it with a glass of red wine and to watch paddington on my tv. a very nice evening if you ask me.

unfortunately i was still bleeding, the doctor said i would be for atleast 2 weeks which is so bad. i ended up eating everything i ordered which i didn't expect but i wasn't bothered by. it was good food.

i was on tik tok simultaneously and sending and responding to tik toks. starting to film a movie and hanging around scarlett johansson brings attention so my account had alot of attention. yes all the tik toks i made are fine but its the reposts i had to private.

i ended up sleeping on the couch that night. its an old leather couch i found on facebook marketplace and i love it.

at 7am i woke up to someone in my apartment. after having a heartattack i realise its just nola making breakfast. i dont question how she got in here.

"come on, you're coming to school today" she decided for me and i groaned sinking into my couch with my blanket more. she comes and rips it off me though. "you are not leaving me with everyone for any longer, i need you at school" she said then heading to my room to get me an outfit.

"you know i hate you" i called out and she shouted how much she loved me. i got changed before getting ready and it only took me half an hour.

nola then drove us to school. "are you okay?" she asks me and i pause waiting to see what shes referring to. "you just seem a bit all over the place recently. like you dont go to the gym, you always cancel your shifts at the restaurant, its just not like you" she said and i stayed quiet. she was also right.

"im just dealing with alot, im sorry for not being there for you at school. im trying to get back into the swing of things" i explained as we tried to find a park at school.

"you know you can talk to me, i know we talk but it's always about other people, like your parents or something. never anything about what's going on in your head" i stay quiet as we get out of the car.

the bell was only minutes away so we headed to our classes. i had french first and mila was very surprised to see me walk in.

at break i took my time getting to our spot. i considered sitting with milas friends but in the end i got to my own spot.
caleb was facing away from me but one of my other friends noticed me and called out making him turn.

a stupid grin spread on his face as he saw me and he extended his arm out to pull me into the spot next to him.

"and she shows" he commented. i just nodded.
"can we talk?" i asked him and he nodded getting up. he interlocked our hands as he walked to one of the many vending machines.

"look caleb, i d-" "triple shot like always" he said handing me the coffee. i felt bad about what i wanted to talk about.

"oh and by the way, the family is going out for lunch on sunday and mum wanted to know if you were coming"
"i-"
"yeah i told her you were probably busy, but i wanted to double check"

"no, ill be there don't worry" i said and he smiled attempting to kiss me but i dodged slightly so he just kissed my cheek.

"it's been ages since we've properly hung out, with your new job and all" he smiled "i'm excited"

there's always next week.
