Much to his own confusion, Jungwon woke up in an empty bed. Usually, he was awake at least half an hour before Jiyeon were. However, this morning he could hear the kettle in the kitchen and see the abandoned dent of a body beside his own in Jiyeon's bed - which also was his at this point.
Stretching his arms he sat up before deciding to venture across the hallway and into his own room to get dressed.
Not much later he would find Jiyeon slowly moving around in the kitchen. pouring a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. Stirring the eggs in the pan on the stove. Immediately Jungwon knew the toaster was busy toasting some bread as well. It was her go-to breakfast by now. But there were only enough for one person.
" 'Morning," he murmured and carefully snaked his arms around her waist. Careful not to startle her as he placed his chin on her shoulder and followed her stirring hand with his eyes, "Are we out of eggs?"
"There's someone in our living room," she whispered in return.
Jungwon slowly straightened up, not quite letting go of her. Stretching his neck he could just barely make out a pair of legs slanted from their couch and down onto the floor.
"Why haven't you done anything? That's unlike you," Jungwon muttered as Jiyeon turned in his grip, "are they clients? New case?"
"Colleagues," she whispered, getting a frown in return, "I supposed you'd be going straight to work... so I only made coffee for you."
"Thanks," he mindlessly murmured and accepted the cup she handed him.
With a frown on his face, Jungwon moved out to the living room, turning towards the one presence that turned out to be two, on the couch. Immediately the frown turned into a slightly shocked expression.
"Finally," Jake grinned over at Jungwon, "long time, no see."
"Why are you here?" Jungwon calmly questioned and looked between the two detectives in his living room.
"Long story," Sunghooned excused with a sigh, "is it a new habit of yours to sleep late?"
"Miss Young's been sending us weird glances," Jake hummed.
"Yeah, because you've just spawned into her fucking living room," Jungwon pointed out in shock, "and you know her," he gestured to Jake.
"I was unsure of what she remembered," Jake excused.
"She gave a full fucking testimony in her case just last week," Jungwon continued. Still visibly shocked at his old co-workers' audacity.
"Good for her," Jake smiled gently, "we're here in relation to her case... we think."
Jungwon was quick to rush into the kitchen and send Jiyeon a small smile. Quickly he took the chair across from her - dragging it into the living room.
"Enjoy your breakfast. I might be out for the day," he excused.
While chewing, Jiyeon nodded.
Closing the glass door between the kitchen and living room Jungwon dragged the chair over to sit in front of Sunghoon and Jake.
"What do you mean 'her case'?" Jungwon lowly questioned.
"We're interrogating an uncooperative defendant right now," Sunghoon sighed.
"So?" Jungwon shrugged.
"The serial killer you caught," Jake clarified. Jungwon straightened up slightly and pursed his lips
"I thought you were done working on that case. He's related to the mural murders," Jungwon commented. Jake snorted.
"I figured," he hummed in return.
