It was such a quiet morning when Jiyeon sat and sipped from her tea. For once she had taken a seat on the couch, staring out the windows. The sky was all clear and showing the first signs of summer approaching. She could even catch a glimpse of a tree in full bloom a bit further down the street.

"Mrs Mae gave me this," Jungwon declared and let a newspaper drop on their coffee table before sitting down beside her. His cup of coffee was in his hand.

"I'll read it later," Jiyeon murmured, "I'm enjoying the summer."

"I think you should read it now and enjoy the summer even more," Jungwon commented.

Jiyeon only hummed and didn't seem to notice him staring at her from the side. Slowly his smile seemed to falter.

"I don't think they're watching me anymore," Jiyeon murmured and Jungwon hummed quietly, "I've been thinking about it these past few days."

"I noticed," Jungwon hummed with a small nod and glanced down into his coffee.

"How'd he know if they were watching me? He's given them a one-time payment worth... I don't know how much," Jiyeon waved it off, "I don't feel like I'm being watched anymore. I think they're gone."

"Are you sure?" Jungwon muttered and Jiyeon nodded, "You've been dreaming a lot since you did the interrogation."

"I know," Jiyeon nodded before turning her head over to look at him, "but I actually feel alright... it's like... before there was this pressure on my chest and shoulders. I actually feel better. Much lighter, like... you know it's actually alright? This time it really is."

"You're honest?" he questioned and she nodded immediately, eyes turning slightly wider. A thing she had a habit of doing when wanting to underline her statements, "Do you really think so?"

"I'm so sure of it," she hummed with a small nod. Letting him brush a strand of hair over behind her ear.

"I think you should read the front of the newspaper then," Jungwon whispered.

"I don't even want to," she let out a small laugh and shook her head.

"No, come on. Just read the front," Jungwon urged and picked up the newspaper, extending it towards her. I promise you. You won't regret it."

She rolled her eyes slightly before grabbing the newspaper and folding out the front page. Her smile immediately faded at the headline. Former  Mayor Exposed for Multiple Crimes. For a second she froze in her spot, only really softening up when Jungwon snaked his arm around her shoulders and read along with her.

The day after the interrogation the police had raided and searched through all of the Mayor's estates. Every house, every warehouse, even every boat. Everything had been searched. So many things had turned up. The almost-finished and decomposing human doll, messily sewn together according to Sunghoon. Multiple tapes and USB sticks with inappropriate and gory content. An accounting book labelling all his criminal hires, how much they got paid, and where they last were seen.

Apparently, the bust of the mayor had released a chain reaction of arrests. In total eighty-four people had been arrested after the bust and been related to a long series of unsolved or forgotten crimes. Lastly, the article finalised with Jake remarking the bust only was possible due to a 'phenomenal' journalist working around them.

"I think it really is over, Ji," Jungwon murmured as she kept on reading the article again and again. Carefully Jungwon took the tea cup out of her hand before she would've spilled it. Her hand immediately went up to clasp her mouth in shock.

Jungwon had let out a small laugh when she had abruptly turned to him with widened eyes. He only nodded.

"Oh my god," Jiyeon whispered, "it's actually over now?"

"And Detective Ahn called me last night. You remember your little kidnapper at Mrs Choi's wedding?" Jungwon questioned and Jiyeon frowned, "sentenced for a long time last night. I suspect this reveal might just give him an even longer sentence. So... I believe it's in its place that we celebrate...?"

"What do you mean?" Jiyeon gasped and lowered her hand slightly.

"Well... as far as I could read this chain of events only happened because of... what was it? A phenomenal journalist?" Jungwon chuckled in amusement, "They gave you all the credit, Ji. We should celebrate."

"I don't have any credit," she frowned.

"Shut up, yes you do," he gasped, "you told them where to look."

As realisation slowly dawned upon Jiyeon she turned her head and looked back at the newspaper. Abruptly she had jumped up from the couch. The left leg of her pyjama shorts was slightly higher and more crinkled than the right leg. Her t-shirt almost slipped over one of her shoulders.

"Oh my god I did!" she happily exclaimed and jumped a few times as Jungwon watched her, "I solved a case, Won! I actually solved it!"

"A big one even," he hummed in acknowledgement.

"We gotta celebrate," she realised in shock, "how do we celebrate? I don't even remember how to celebrate such a thing!"

"Well... my first idea was to go on a trip. Get away for a bit, you know?" he questioned and she hummed, "and then I realised I planned to get a small lake house or something for us."

"Bad idea," Jiyeon commented and he let out a small laugh as she sat down on the couch again, her whole body turned to him and knees up against her chest. Looking at him with expectation.

"I know, so I decided not to," he hummed and she immediately nodded, "why are you looking at me like that?"

"Like what?" she questioned and cocked her head to the side slightly.

"Like you're all... yeah... just stop it," he laughed and she only shoved her face closer to his, "Ji!" he complained and pushed her shoulders a bit for her to get away, "stop it. Let me finish talking about the celebration."

"Oh, right," she hummed and fell back on her butt again.

"I got us tickets to go visit your parents in Japan for a week," Jungwon admitted and her eyes widened.

Immediately she had launched herself at him. Arms wrapping around his neck and body casually strewn across his legs. A loud laugh continued to escape Jungwon as he grabbed onto her.

"Ugh, thank you, thank you, thank you!" she exclaimed and started peppering kisses all over his neck and face, "thank you!"

"And then I was thinking when we got back we'll say no thank you to any cases for a week to fix the apartment," Jungwon continued.

"Fix it?" Jiyeon frowned and pulled her head away to look at him.

"Yeah... didn't you want me to just move into your room permanently?" he mocked and she smiled slowly, "and then we can turn my old room into an office of some sort... so I don't have boxes of teeth standing around in the kitchen. A work room for us."

"I like that idea," Jiyeon hummed and Jungwon nodded quietly.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah..."

For a second they only smiled at each other before one of them had leaned in, or both of them. A long-lasting chaste kiss was shared between them before one of them, or both again, pulled a bit back.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
