False Prophet

With the summer months coming to an end came a brisk chill that settled over the evening. Y/n was walking home after his strange and slightly life-threatening interaction. It was strange, the girl he just met didn't seem to be a local. Her mannerisms and speech were similar, and yet still distinctly different from the people he knew. Ebbot was a small and remote place, the population dropping even more due to all the murders taking place here over the past year. Only around 100 or so families reside here and most people know each other from daily interactions. There was also only one high school, Ebbot High, and unless you were homeschooled, which was rarely the case, you would have to go there. She looked like was around his age, so it was strange that he had never chanced across her in the halls or classes over his years at that place.

She could be a recently transferred student, which would explain the lack of her presence around town. But still... some details just didn't match up. For one her clothes were far too light for the weather. Most people would already be switching out summer wear for stuff that can withstand falling temperatures. Chara on the other hand, was wearing shorts, a striped t-shirt, and brown boots.

A chilling gust washed over him like a phantom trying to take his soul. The winds brushed against his face and tried to push into his clothes, making Y/n pull up the hood of the sweater over his head.

Y/n shivered. Even with his sweater, the winds were getting to him. He couldn't imagine how that girl was holding up.

He thought back to the conversation again. Her voice shook each time she asked a question, her eyes darting around like she was on high alert. That knife she was threatening him with was certainly real as well despite its unusualness. It managed to poke holes into his clothes with ease and left a stinging nick on the side of his face.

And her eyes... Y/n swore that he remembered them shining red. That's not something you could just make up, it was something so startling and stunning that it couldn't have been fabricated. It had inked itself into his mind, and his memory clung onto the moment as if it was out of a climactic scene of a movie.

There was also this nagging feeling that he knew her. Maybe in a distant past or alternate universe, they had been friends.

Another gust of wind tugged him out of that false reality. He couldn't have known her. He would remember those red eyes from anywhere. Besides she would have said something if she knew him, and perhaps been a little less aggressive towards a supposed old friend. Honestly, the most probable case is that she was a stranger who came up with an elaborate act to trick him. She was trespassing on private property after all. Maybe she just didn't want to get into trouble.

Y/n sighed, and a puff of vapor flowed out and dissipated.

Common sense dictates that Y/n should call the police and report what just happened. After all, this mysterious girl had just appeared out of nowhere, started demanding explanations to basic questions, and also stabbed him a couple of times. Sure, the wounds were superficial at worst, but light injuries or not, what she did was still technically battery.

On the other hand, she really did look lost. Her questions were out of the ordinary, yes, but the way she asked them was not.  Her eyes danced around precariously, her hands had a slight tremor running through them, and she subconsciously switched the blade to the other hand to wipe the sweat off, all signs of someone who was anxious and completely out of her comfort zone. It wouldn't be too nice for Y/n to straight up call the cops on this girl when she trying to get her bearings.

After a not-so-thorough debate with himself, Y/n finally chose not to cause more trouble for the lost girl.

Before he knew it, Y/n arrived home. It was nothing too grand but it did its job.
