Death. People think they know what death what it will feel like. The pain. The longing to stay for just a little longer. The true thing is no one knows how death will feel until you feel it yourself. People feel it in their last moments as they slip into oblivion, but for Lily she felt it when everyone around her started to die. She felt the pain and how they wanted to die to make it stop. The pull of wanting to say something before you go.
She felt the guilt. The lies that people would take to their graves. Regret. That's what you think about the most in your final moments on earth. Regret of not getting to do certain things. Regret of not saying something you should.
People can die at any second. No matter what you do or say they will always die with regret. It's inevitable. You don't know when you'll die. Sure, doctors might tell a person you have two months to live, but the person won't know the exact date and time they will die. It leaves a person so that they could never fulfill everything they wanted. It leaves them with regret.
Lily didn't know what she felt. It was like a big space of nothingness inside her. She couldn't remove her eyes from the last spot she saw him. Where she last saw Derek. Alive. Now he was dead. It had been a day. A single day since learning the truth, and he was gone. Every one of her family was gone. It was a death sentence to be related to her.
Lily looked over at Stiles with tears in her eyes as he yelled, "Do I look like I have something to lock it with!" The two had been yelling back and forth while Lily was stood looking at the closed door. Her hand found its way over her mouth as more sobs poured through.
"Grab something!" Scott yelled.
"What?" Stiles questioned.
"Anything." Scott replied.
Stiles froze in his spot as he thought. His eyes drifted outside, settling on the pair of bold cutters meters away from the metal door. Lily noticed and shook her head. "No," Lily stated. "No. You can't."
Stiles looked up her. His eyes went from the tears that fell from her eyes to the blood that covered her clothes. He hadn't noticed it earlier. It made sense she'd have blood on her. Lily had been next to Derek. Both Derek and Lily's backs had been to the Alpha. The Alpha could have killed either of them, but it chose to kill the werewolf.
"I have to." Stiles argued. He pushed the doors open and exited the school. Stiles slowly walks down the stairs until he reaches the cutters. Lily spots the Alpha hiding behind the jeep as Stiles picks up the bolt cutters. Lily's eyes widened as Stiles stayed still and looked out into the parking lot.
