"You want to talk about it?"
Lily's head snapped at the sound of the Isaac's voice. She gave him a weak smile before looking back at her clasped hands that sat in her lap. She leaned on her elbows that sat on her knees. She felt the bed dip as Isaac sat beside her.
"I could see it in your eyes the moment you returned with Derek." He stated.
Lily didn't remove her eyes from their spot on the ground. "Each time my heart has slowed down I can feel a little more of it, but this time...it was a lot. I can feel inside me, and I'm scared. I'm scared. I'm scared of what I can do. I'm terrified that I'm gonna hurt someone."
Isaac mimicked her position as he stared at her.
"I've tried to push it away. Keep it hidden, but I don't know how much longer I can do that. I have this gut feeling that someone is going to die, and I'm going to be the cause. I can't explain, but I know that whatever I am, whatever is inside me is pure darkness."
"My mother removed my memories. Pretty much erased me from existence. Hid me for most of my life. I'm beginning to realize why. People so badly want whatever is inside that they're willing to kill their own son to get it. Or to stop me for doing something."
Isaac reached forward to grab Lily's hand. She glanced back at him with tears in her eyes. "That's why you have pack. We're going to stand by you through whatever happens. You'll never be alone."
"Do you believe in destiny?" She question.
Isaac's eyebrows furrowed. "I don't know," He admitted. "Maybe.
"It keeps repeating. People keep talking about me having some destiny." Lily stated. "Do you think that my life is already decided? That it's fate for me to go through whatever I'm going to? That my family was always going to die?"
"I think life is cruel sometimes."
Lily removed her eyes from his to stare at the bland wall before her. "I think it's all bullshit." She voiced. "It's just a word we use to justify why shitty things happen to people. We use it to explain why we do horrible things. Or incredible things. It's just a stupid word with a stupid meaning."
Lily stood up and turned around to face Isaac. "I done letting fate or destiny decide for me. It's my life, so I'm going to do it my way. If people want to come for me, let them because they won't survive it."
That was the last thing Isaac heard before she disappeared out of the room. He had heard it in her voice and saw it in her eyes. The darkness she talked about was beginning to consume her. She was fighting it, but it was only a matter of time.
