"Hey." A voice said from the doorway. Lily turned away from the mirror too look at the person. Noah was standing there with a smile. She smiled back at him. "I didn't know what you'd you want for breakfast, so I just made chocolate chip pancakes and eggs."

"That's fine. You really didn't have to do anything." Lily stated. She didn't even realize that today was her birthday until she got a notification on her phone. With so much that had happened in the past year, her birthday wasn't something that crossed her mind. She didn't really feel like thinking about her birthday either. It had always been her favorite time of the year.

Her mother would wake her up with breakfast in bed, and then they would go shopping. Then her mom would take her to a spot in the woods. It was a lake with a giant waterfall. It was incredible. No matter how many times she saw it, it would take her breath away. This was the first time she wouldn't get to do that. She wouldn't have her mom with her.

"Well, I thought you deserved a little something for the day."

Lily smiled. "Thanks."

Lily wasn't going to say anymore. She was thankful that he cared enough to do something on her birthday. She just didn't want to celebrate or do anything special. It was her mom's and her day. And she couldn't ever think about celebrating with someone else.

"Did someone just say pancakes?" Stiles questioned. He slid to a stop in front of her bedroom door with a smile. Lily shook her head, laughing.

"Yes, but there for Lily." Noah stated.

"What?" Stiles questioned. "Why? She didn't do anything?"

Lily hadn't mentioned to anyone about what today was. All she had to do was get through the day like it was any other day. One day. One day where she could be reminded of her family at any moment. Any moment that would most likely break her.

Stiles' face fell when he noticed how different she was acting. "What's wrong? Is it something I said?" Stiles asked. Lily shook her head. She pulled the boy into a hug. He was surprised by her actions, but hugged her back. She was trying so hard to hold back the tears. When she pulled away, Stiles saw them. "Lily?"

"You didn't do anything. In fact, you did exactly what I want everyone do to. Act like any other day." Lily rambled. "I don't know. I didn't want to think about it, but it's so hard not too." Lily eyes watered. John pulled her into a hug. "I just keep thinking about how they're not here. And they never will be."

"I know, kiddo." Noah stated. He pulled back and looked down at her. "I may have not known your parents, but I'm almost positive that they would want you to be happy. Not just on this day either. It gets easier."
