Angst to fluff for Sodo and Phantom! And Rain 👀

<><><><><><><><><><><>

Phantom was young. Young and new in the ministry. He barely knew anything about being topside and having a mortal body. And because of his young age, merely just gotten 18, he was... difficult to deal with. He needed a bunch of explaining, and he always wanted to know everything. Every little thing he saw he was interested about and needed to know everything. This reached its peak when he discovered he'd have to play guitar. He did know what a guitar was, but he had like zero knowledge of playing. And of course Sodo was the chosen one to show him. Swiss technically could've done it too, but Copia decided that the fire ghoul should be the one to teach him everything. Because those two would have to be a team later on anyways.

Dew was everything but happy about it. Still, he had no choice but listen to his papa's orders. And so he and Phantom had their fifth practice now. Each one had been a pain for Sodo so far. He didn't like how Phantom was distracted so easily, or how he always needed three explanations for something that was just so... logical for Sodo. He knew that Phantom simply had no knowledge about playing, but he just wasn't a good teacher in that sense. He couldn't empathize with the young quint having to learn everything from scratch. He did his best, sure, and he knew that Phantom was most likely doing the same thing, but the fire ghoul just had short temper that he struggled to keep in check.

So far he was proud to not have traumatized the young ghoul. But today things were meant to go downhill. Today Sodo wanted to move on from the basics and show Phantom some actual songs. That's what the quint had been begging him to do from day one already, but Dew had always told him he'd have to get some basics down. But now he realized there was just no way to go around it. He knew it would be a pain in the ass, and he even fucking mediated beforehand in hopes to keep his own temper in check. But as they sat there in the rehearsal room, Sodo repeatedly had to take deep breaths to stay calm. He was just not having it. Phantom didn't manage straight away, which was obvious. Everyone needed practicing, but the quint was one of those ghouls who wanted everything to work immediately. Sodo could not work with people like that.

"Phantom come on. You'll have to keep trying. Go slow. Look-" but before Sodo could even finish, Phantom interrupted him with a groan, "I don't want to. I just want it to work! You said it's easy Sodo, so why is it so fucking hard?" The fire ghoul sighed, his jaw clenching as he snapped his guitar pic in half. "Because I've been playing guitar for nearly ten years, Phantom" he seethed. Phantom rolled his eyes, but he knew the truth in Sodo's words. "So you've been struggling once too?" he asked as he positioned his hands on the fret board for another try. Dew nodded as he threw the pick to the side and got a new one. There was a moment of silence, until Phantom started playing again, going slow and deliberate this time. But then he made a small mistake, and he was so mad at himself. He was like a whiny, bratty child, that didn't got the sweets from his mom that he wanted so badly.

Sodo groaned, tapping his foot on the floor to keep himself distracted. He figured that if he just didn't listen to Phantom, maybe he just wouldn't snap at him. The others had warned him not to. They had told Sodo many many times to keep himself in check, to not raise his voice at the new ghouls because Dew's temper definitely could cause their young minds harm. And Sodo didn't want to harm them. So he actually tried his best to keep his breathing in check. But the more Phantom rambled on and whined, Sodo's blood began to boil more. He could swear that even his pulse got quicker from how much he was holding back.

"Sodo! Are you even listening? I need your help! I'm just so bad... I'm not good enough! I can't play it! I will never be able to play! You're so good at it, and then there's me! I heard Aether play, he's so fucking good and then I-" That was when Sodo had enough. Phantom just didn't stop talking. He just rambled on and on about how horrible he was at playing guitar. Sodo had tried so often to remind him that no master was just summoned from the pit. That they all had needed practice. A lot of practice and bleeding fingers, in fact. Even Aether and himself. But when Phantom just didn't stop drowning himself in self pity, Sodo lost it at him.
