Sinking into the pond, feeling his body being enveloped by the cold, clear water, felt like pure bliss to the water ghoul. He was denied this for six awfully long months. The simple act of feeling water around his body, covering him completely - allowing his fins to puff out, his gills to comfortably flutter open, it's something very rare while out on tour, if he was given the chance at all. Most of the time he only got sterile hotel showers, very rarely maybe a bathtub. So being at the ministry now, in the familiarity of the pond he's been swimming in since he's been summoned, felt like coming home. He finally felt like himself again - felt every fiber of his being burning with sensations, with life. It was the first time in six months his body was being connected with his soul.

His eyes were closed, his body sprawled out as he floated over the water as if it was all a dream he hadn't dared to have - weightless, quiet, the lake cradling him like it remembered him. Every ripple felt like a welcome back, every breath like he was finally alive again. "Fuck, this is good," he sighed, "I can breathe again."

There was a tall figure sitting on the dock, his legs dangling off the edge and dipping into the water. Mountain wasn't too keen on going swimming himself, but he loved being out in the forest, and he even more loved to watch Rain connect with his element like this after a long and tiring tour. His eyes followed the water ghoul as he let himself simply float. It was so peaceful - the forest around them was still, save for the sound of some birds chirping in the distance. The orange light from the setting sun bathed the lake in beautiful lightning, and both ghouls wished to just stay there forever, to stay in that peaceful bubble they called home - not a place, but a feeling, suspended in warmth and water and the quiet knowing that they had each other.

Mountain smiled faintly at the sight, eyes soft as he leaned back on his hands, letting the quiet moment settle between them like moss. Rain was driven over to the dock by the wind, and just before he could hit the wood, Mountain moved his leg between his head and the wooden stilts. "You're gonna stay in there all night?" Mountain asked, his voice low and mellow, trying not to break the calm and comfortable atmosphere surrounding them. Rain cracked an eye open, a lazy grin tugging at his lips, "maybe." "You'll wrinkle up like a raisin." "Then I'll be a hydrated raisin. Big difference." Mountain chuckled at the words, shaking his head in amusement and speechlessness. But his eyes still had that adoring spark they always held in such moments.

Rain shifted in the water, now upright and facing Mountain. He placed his arms over the earth ghoul's lap, resting his chin on them and gazing up at him with those big, blue eyes. Mountain reached and trailed a hand trough his damp hair, a soft coo slipping past his lips at the adorable sight. Rain let out a soft sound of contentment, something that almost sounded like a purr and made the water around him ripple gently in response - almost as if the lake was answering to his joy, echoing it. "I missed this so much..." "The water?" Mountain asked back, keeping his voice low as one of his fingers twirled a strand of hair. "Also," Rain mumbled, "but just... the quiet. The familiarity. Home."

Mountain didn't reply, he just let the words linger, his fingers gently scraping at Rain's scalp. It was a couple moments later that Rain suddenly dipped down, under the still surface of the water. He wasn't under water for long, resurfacing with his hair slicked back and a dopey smile. "Enough of all that sappy shit," he laughed, and Mountain couldn't help but roll his eyes in response. He stood up and grabbed a towel he had set out earlier, holding it out to the water ghoul. But Rain paid it no mind - instead, he scooted back with a playful grin and flicked a splash of water toward Mountain. He gasped, trying to cover himself up somehow, but it was no avail. He wasn't soaked, but it was still enough to make him grumble in annoyance. The smaller ghoul couldn't help but let out a hearted laugh at the reaction, making Mountain pout.
