Each and every one was laying in the entry hall of the abbey. One was looking more horrifying than the next. When Rain opened the door, walking inside as if nothing had happened, he stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing that. He was frozen in place, feeling as if his body was numb, not able to move. A shiver ran down his spine, and tears rushed to his eyes. The whole floor in front of him was covered in a thick layer of blood, and in the puddle were his friends. His family. His lover. His pack. Rain choked on air, seeing their bodies, lifeless and cold.
And those eyes. That eyes that stared right back at Rain. But there was no life left in them, only fear, hatred and death. The water ghoul heard steps coming down the hallway, loud and clear. He wanted to run away, hide from whatever was coming, but his body wouldn't move. He saw a figure coming down to the hall, but he saw no face. Just a tall man, carrying an axe, no face, but Rain could still see the hatred in the eyes that were not even there. Rain swallowed thickly, choking on another sob. He wanted to run, he wanted to hide, but his body was still and numb. But maybe he deserved dying too. He didn't deserve living. He was supposed to be laying there with the others, swimming in a pool of blood.

With a gasp, Rain jumped up and sat bolt upright in bed. His breathing was fast, and a layer of sweat covered his skin all over. His hand clutched onto his shirt, and he could swear that tears were brimming in his eyes.
That damn nightmare.
For the past couple of weeks, he always had that same nightmare all over again. It always had him sitting in his room and crying for the rest of the night. The sight of his whole pack's murdered and bloodied bodies laying in the ministry wasn't an easy one for Rain. And while he knew it was just pictures his mind had made up, they always left him shaking and traumatized. And this night was no different than any other. He tried going back to sleep, but he already knew beforehand that it would be no use. Every time he closed his eyes, the sight came back, and he couldn't bear it. Rain groaned, feeling awful and tired. He was always exhausted since those damn nightmares started.
But since he was feeling especially worse today than on all the other nights, he figured it wouldn't help him much to just stay inside. So instead, he decided to leave his room. After he had thrown some clothes on, he left his bedroom and padded down the hallway. He had no clue where he was going, but he just didn't want to sit around in his room. But as he reached the entry hall of the ministry, he couldn't help but feel extremely uncomfortable. The pictures flashed through his mind again, making him shiver and whimper. He suddenly felt watched. As if that faceless man would come out of the shadows any moment.
He began running, passing the entrance hall as quickly as possible. He quickly opened the door and ran outside the ministry grounds. The door fell into its lock with a loud thud behind him, and Rain just so hoped he didn't wake anyone up. Tears were brimming in eyes again as he ran through the gardens, over a little pathway that led to the small fish pond that, funny enough, didn't contain any fish anymore. Rain had used it for swimming ever since he had been summoned. It was something like his comfort place here in the ministry, aside from his own and maybe Mountain's room. He felt safe around here for some reason.
He let himself fall onto the grass, looking down at the water. He watched the small, tiny lights dance over the otherwise still water; fireflies. The sight was oddly soothing. He was just about to relax, when he suddenly heard steps coming from behind him, rustling through the grass. He tensed, and another whimper fell from his lips as he pulled his knees to his chest. But before he could actually panic, he felt Mountain's calming aura. The tall ghoul quietly sat down beside Rain, wrapping his arm around the smaller's shoulder. "Sorry I've startled you, droplet..." he whispered. Rain just shook his head and relaxed into the embrace, molding against Mountain's side with a sigh.
