The gel is cool against my skin as the ultrasound probe glides over my belly. The room is quiet except for the rhythmic beeping of the machine, and the screen flickers with shapes that feel almost otherworldly—tiny, fragile, and alive.
I turn my head to Jungkook.
For a moment, his eyes stay locked on the screen, absorbing every detail. Then he looks at me, and our gazes meet. There's something unspoken in his eyes, a blend of awe, worry, and something deeper—something that only he could convey without words.
A soft smile tugs at his lips as he leans closer, pressing a tender kiss to my forehead. "How do you feel?" he asks, his voice low, steady, and soothing.
"I'm not sure," I admit, my voice trembling slightly. "But I'm happy. Just seeing the baby... it's overwhelming, but in a good way. I don't know how to explain it."
His hand brushes over mine, warm and grounding. "I understand," he says softly, his tone firm but gentle. "But the choice is still yours. Whatever you decide, I'm here for you."
My heart swells as I smile back at him, feeling the weight of his unwavering love and support.
Jungkook's hand remains steady on mine as he turns to the doctor. His posture shifts slightly, becoming taut, and the quiet dominance he carries fills the room.
"My wife gave birth seven months ago," he says, his voice calm but resolute. "I need to know she's going to be okay. Whatever it takes, you make sure of it."
The doctor glances at me briefly before replying. "We'll take every precaution," she says carefully. "Her situation is delicate, given how recent her last pregnancy was. But with close monitoring, we can manage."
Jungkook's jaw tightens, and his gaze sharpens. "Delicate isn't good enough. She comes first—do you understand?"
The air in the room shifts, growing heavier. My eyes flick to Jungkook, a sudden realization settling in my chest. He's worried—truly, deeply worried—for me.
The doctor hesitates, clearly weighing her words. "Of course. We'll prioritize her health above all else. But we also have to consider—"
Jungkook cuts her off with quiet authority. "No. You consider her. Nothing else matters if she's not okay. I'll take care of everything else."
I watch him carefully, my throat tightening. His words, though resolute, carry an unspoken implication: if the baby threatened my health, he wouldn't hesitate to make the choice.
The doctor nods, her tone respectful. "Understood. For now, she needs rest and minimal stress. That's the most important thing."
Jungkook turns back to me, his features softening, though his eyes remain intense. He crouches slightly to meet me at eye level, his voice quieter but no less firm. "You heard her. No stress, no overthinking. You're my priority, Y/N. Always."
The car hums gently as Jungkook drives us home, the city lights casting fleeting patterns across the interior. The silence between us is thick, almost tangible, as I replay the appointment in my mind.
Warmth fills me at the memory of the flickering screen, but fear lingers too—a persistent, shadowy presence in my thoughts.
"Jungkook," I say softly, breaking the silence. "How did you feel when I first told you I was pregnant again?"
His lips twitch into a faint smile before he glances at me, his eyes momentarily soft. "Overwhelmed," he admits. "But happy. The idea of our family growing, of us having another baby—it felt... incredible."
