I open my eyes.
My mind feels blank. Heavy. Like I'm waking from a dream I can't remember.
When my vision finally clears, something feels off. Foreign.
Where am I?
Who... am I?
Then I see him—Jungkook. Leaning in, eyes locked on mine the second they flutter open.
Concern flickers across his face.
"Babe," he murmurs, reaching for my hand.
My chest tightens.
Everything comes rushing back.
My eyes snap fully open, and I turn to him, gripping his hand with both of mine. "Jungkook," I breathe, voice trembling. "I'm so sorry."
He gently shakes his head, voice quiet. "It's okay."
His other hand moves up, fingers brushing against my temple, soft and comforting.
"You're not mad at me anymore?" I ask, staring at him.
He shakes his head again.
"But you were," I whisper. "You looked at me like you'd never forgive me. Are you... really not mad at me anymore?" I search his eyes for the truth.
"Yeah," he says, holding my gaze. "I'm not mad at you anymore."
I fall silent, but something in me doesn't feel fully assured.
He releases my hand and leans forward, wrapping his arms around me. His warmth surrounds me.
"I love you," he murmurs against my hair.
Tears escape my eyes. "I love you too... Jungkook."
"Crying again?" he teases gently.
I shake my head quickly. "No."
He lets out a soft scoff. A small exhale that could almost be mistaken for a laugh, but there's a weight behind it.
"I don't deserve to be forgiven," I say. "I put Seol in danger. I—I'm so sorry."
"Okay. What else?"
I blink. "What...?"
"What else should you apologize for?" he asks, his voice calm but edged with something unreadable.
My lips part in confusion, then slowly, I begin, "I lied to you. I didn't listen. I acted like a fool."
He gently pats the back of my head, quiet for a moment.
But in his silence, his thoughts churn.
He knows she's his weakness. A soul he needs—despite knowing she could destroy everything.
Blood is thicker than water, and he's always known love would blur his logic, twist his edges.
Now he has people to protect. He already felt it.
Too much to lose.
"Anything to say?" he asks again.
I lift my gaze to him. His eyes no longer look distant.
"Are you okay, Jungkook?" I whisper.
Something shifts. That question—simple, sincere—is something he's longed to hear from her.
He nods. "I'm okay now."
I keep staring at him, reading him.
Then he asks, "Are you okay?"
I nod, my arms wrapping around him. "Yeah... I'm so sorry."
