To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 6

*Nycole's Pov*

"No no no no no! Don't you dare Johnny!" I screamed at the lifeless body. I knew the truth, but to lose some one once was bad enough, but twice? I reached out for my staff that lay next to me on the ground. The rock that I had infused with the light was growing dimmer. I extracted the soul from the rock and placed it in my staff.

What should I do about his body? I questioned myself.

Just turn it into an object. Said Fallon. Like a doll or something.

Hmm....

I placed my staff and thought of something to turn his body into. His body glowed golden and flashed into the other object, a small Voo-do-doll. His small stitched hair and little arms looked almost cute. If you where a person to see it for the first time you could hug it, until you found out that it was in fact a dead body, then you would freak out, but other than that fact it looked harmless.

I tucked the doll away into my vest out of harms way. I hope that he is ok, where ever he is, I thought to myself.

Fallon decided to speak up, He is fine, I can see that he is hovering around you, he should stick near you if he knows what's best. Oh and he can hear you too but you can hear or reach him.

Oh yeah? Well that's just great.

Hey! Not my fault that your friend died by being reckless.

Just leave me alone for a bit, ok?

Fine. Fallon shut up and I couldn't hear him anymore. I boosted myself above the ground with the power of the wind at my beck and call. I flew on over up and out of the chasam. I needed to find Toast and Jimmy, or better yet, Cardinal.

As the glow of the lava filled the halls I got the feeling I was being watched as I flew down the corridors. That eerie silence that comes when you know something bad is about to happen soon. Suddenly, out of the ceiling fell Jimmy Casket and Johnny Toast.

"Toast! How did you? What did you do?!" I nearly screamed at him and Jimmy. I had had enough of being here in this stupid place. I looked at Toast then Jimmy, but what I saw as not Jimmy Casket. Instead in his place was Jordan.

My mouth dropped open as I looked back and forth between the two. I looked at Toast then sighed and facepalmed. "Toast, explination, NOW!" I stated.

"He-became-Jimmy-then triangle and... Oh god..."

"Start from the top."

"Well Jimmy leaned on the wall and found a secret passage that lead to this dark hallway and when we went inside the wall sealed behind us and we had to find some pieces to escape this huge maze and lead us to the way out but when we found the second piece, Jimmy said 'He's waking up' and because Jimmy had possessed Jordan... well.... now he is here." Explained Toast.

"Ok, did you explain what happened, to him and why we are here?" I said and pointed at Jordan who quietly shuffled off to the side.

"Yes."

"Ok, so you both need weapons so what do ya want?" I asked.

"I'll take a gun." said Toast.

I summoned a shot-gun and gave it to Toast. "Ok that will never run out of ammo. What do you want Jordan?" I asked.

"A sword and shield plus a pistol." I summoned that too.

"Same goes for you, it will never run out of ammo and the shield can block almost anything. Toast? Want another weapon? Or shield?"

"Yes, I'll take a shield too." he said and I got that for him too.

"Ok, are we all set?" They both nodded. "Right lets go." I said as I lead the way down another corridor.

We walked on in silence and Toast came up on my right with Jordan out of earshot. "Ma'am? Did you find Sir?" I looked down and tried to hold in the tears.

"Yes, He had been badly beaten and wounded in several places. I did all I could but, it was too late."

"You revived him like you did that one time right? He is ok? Right?" Asked Toast with worry in his tone.

"He is with me, but his soul is being held in my staff. I will have to switch to another staff soon to make sure he stays alive. I need to do that now." I said and stopped and extracted the light orb from my staff. It dissolved and out of thin air appeared a new one. I fused the light back with the crystal in the staff and continued on walking.

"I am sorry Toast, I did all that I could at the time. His soul is safe within my staff and his body is with me too." I pulled out the little doll that looked so much like Ghost and handed it to Johnny.

"Is this?..."

"It is.... but there is nothing that I can do right now to change him back. But for now I will hold onto him." Toast handed me back the doll of Ghost.  I turned to look at him. "The one thing I do know is that is ghost should be floating around here, if he knows what's best that is..." they started to look around.

"If I can't see him, you defiantly won't be able to, so we keep going, Cardinal cannot know the state that Ghost is in. Understood?" They both nodded. "Good. Lets go." I said as I continued walking down the halls of this horrible fortress with the boys close behind me.
