Chapter 34

*Nycole's Pov*

The scraping of claws was closing in on us. My powers weren't working in this great time of need. The only thing that seemed to work was a speed boost along with a strength spell. Just my luck. But this was just so... Wrong! I swung my arm out and power punched a dragon coming around the corner.

My gloves where back but my boots had gone else where. They kept on coming. I heard a bang and a bullet whizzed past me. More bangs where herd but they had terrible aim. Others where gaining on us and spraying flames everywhere. Ghost was the farthest behind and getting singed by the flames. I put a boost speed on us all and we started to pull ahead of them.

"Where are we going? We can't last much longer!" Shouted Ghost from the middle now.

"I have no idea. Hopefully the main room of operation!" I shouted back. We raced around and a rumble started to shake the ground.

"What's happening?" Shouted Kat.

"I think the building is collapsing!" I shouted back. The floor was giving out. We stopped and cracks started to go through out the ground between my feet. I stepped away on the opposite side from the others. "Go to safe ground!" I shouted at them and they started to run to a safe part of land. Ghost stood still watching. The small crack had widened now and was spreading out faster and faster. Then the ground gave a jolt and the ground collapsed right beneath my feet.

I tried to grab onto the ledge but my hand slipped. Suddenly something had me by the wrist. It was Ghost, he was leaning over the edge and struggling to pull me up. "Ghost! What are you doing!? You could die! Get away with the others!"

"No! I can't leave you!" He said.

"Where are the others?"

"They didn't see you fall! They made their way to safe ground." He said.

I smiled. "You idiot! You can't get us both out of here alive! I can find a way out of this!"

"Your powers don't work! You would die!" He shouted at me. That was correct, I had forgotten about that. He grabbed the ledge and tried to pull me up. But his ledge started to break with a dangerous crack.

The ceiling was starting to crumble and pieces where falling down towards us. "Let go! Save your self!"

His eyes started to water. "How could I? After so many times you've saved my life?! I won't give up!" The ledge he was standing on cracked some more under the weight. "I just can't let the one I like go!" He shouted. His eyes widened at what he had said. I smiled happily at him.

"I like you too!" I said back. "But if you really do like me...do as I say."

He shook his head, but I let go of his arm. His grip was strong and he held on as I did nothing. He was crying now as he hung onto me. A huge chunk was falling from the roof it landed 3 feet away from Ghost, causing his ledge to break and we both fell down into the abyss. He was still holding my wrist. I pulled him closer and hugged him as we fell though the air down into the chasm.

"I love you." He whispered to me.

"Me too." I said back as I pulled him close and we fell through the air towards our doom.
