To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 18

*Nycole's Pov*

We all dropped into the chamber. There was one light sorce and it was over Ghost. Toast stepped towards him but I put my hand infront of him. "Not yet." He nodded and held up his pistols.

A laugh came from where Ghost was. He was slumped over in a chair with no rope or chains. Something was up, and I had a feeling that I would have to fight Cardinal once again, but this time it was the real deal.

The lights turned on and revealed Cardinal along with Elza and another girl. Cardinal was no longer a little girl, she was a fully grown teen like me but I was taller and lanky, she was full and shortish. She wore the same outfit but it was just bigger. Her sword was at her back glinting blood red and a deadly black.

I held two fingers up and we all rasied our weapons at them. Toast with his pistols, Jordan with his sword and shield, Kat with her daggers and me with my double bladed sword.

"Oh hey Nycole! Didn't see you come in! Why don't tou put down your weapon and come join Ghostie over here? Huh?" She leaned over Ghost and twirled his hair and smelled it too.

I snarled at her. "In your dreams Cardinal."

"Ahh very well, looks like a duel will settle this." She picked up his head and he woke up. Instantly he was tied up. "Wait here my sweet little Ghostie! Once I've delt with your friends we can live happily forever together! And you can keep their souls! How's that sound?"

"Noooooooooo!" He screamed and tried to get out of his bonds, but they just tightened around him.

"Elza, Danica, kill the others, let me deal with her." She said very seriously and pointed at me.

"Try me." I said.

Toast and Jordan went off to the right and met Elza head on. Kat took on the girl named Danica. Both of their daggers clashed and rang throughout the room. I waved my hand infront of me and made a circle. Within moments I had reached my maxed out power. (The picture is of Nycole's armor and sword.)

I placed my sword infront of me standing ready to fight. Cardinal waved her hand up and did an X infront of her and she soon had on armor too. Hers was a death black and blood red with black thorns on the shoulder pads, elbows, knees, back spine and knuckles. A black smoke emitted from her armor and formed a devil wolf. My light blue wolf spirit took form with its glowing purple eye's. Her wolf had red eyes.

"I thought I would never have to use this form again." Said Cardinal.

"Yeah, I thought I would never get to use mine!"

"So be it, now how should we start this? I think having me kill you quickly would be the best way to go."

"I completely disagree!" I said back. We had been circling around each other for a bit now. Cardinal drew her sword and I got into stance for a block. She lunged at me and I blocked.

Our swords rang out loud and sharp. The magnitude of the blow sent us both backwards. I back flipped and landed on my feet, she cruched low and slid some distance across the floor on her feet.

I charged, but her wolf lunged at me. It's jaws open wide, its teeth almost ripped me to shreaded but my huge wolf jumped up in the air did a twist and brought it down with a crash. A ton of smoke rised and a huge crater was in the ground with the wolf bleeding from its sides. It lunged and the two wolves wrestled and clawed at one another.

I had blocked another blow from Cardinal. Jordan and Toast had made some good progress on Elza. Kat had not a single scratch on her but Danica had many.

I turned back to my fight and looked around for Ghost. He was tied up in a chair on the far side of the room. I thrust my left hand out and sent Cardinal to the opposite side of the room. I sprinted over to him and took my sword and slashed right up the back of the chair cutting the ropes and back half of the chair to splinters.

I hoisted him up and helped him to stand. Once he was able to stand I handed him a sword with a celistal bronze blade. "Take this!" I shouted at him and he grabbed it and blocked a blow from Cardinal.

"Ghostie! Don't betray me! Help me!" She yelled at him childishly. She sucker punched him in the jaw sending him to the ground. He stood up gasping.

"I Will Never Fight For YOU!" He yelled and charged stright at her. The blade I had given him was a blade with a special ability. If a demon where to touch it, the demon would disintegrate and be banshied to the void to never return. He swung the blade and she blocked, turned her sword and fliped it in a circle to slice his throat, but I stepped in and blocked for him.

She landed back from the blast of the blades. Only then did Ghost get teleported behind her secretly by me. She never noticed and her armor only had one spot left open for killing. If Ghost could stab her in the back our problems would be solved, for good.

"Ha! You think thats an attack?" I called out.

"No thats not my best."

"Well guess what, if you can survive my Overdrive, I'll admit you've got a tougher defence than I thought."

"Y-you have... Overdrive?!?!" She said and started to shake in involuntary movements.

"Yeah, so?"

"Oh you don't know? Well if you use it right it could be the most destructive and powerful attack ever created, but in doing so you'll kill your friends."

"Uh huh...." I glanced around and gave Ghost a wink, Cardinal didn't see it. "Well I'm fine with that."

"So be it." She said. "Well I have Super Burst."

"Okay cool. Don't care really, you'll die once I'm done with you."

"Humph." She raised her sword infront of her and tossed it in the air landing in the ground perfectly stright up three feet away. She began to recite spells. She started to emit a deep black smoke, it started to consume the room.

I raised my sword and rested it on my shoulder and took a wider foot stance and began to recite spells. Around me a silver aura began to form it clashed with the darkness but I was overwhelming it. She was starting to sweat. Ghost had snuck up behind her quietly and was reading his sword. I focused on Cardinal, she could not find out about what Ghost was doing or he would also be banished to the void with a single punch from us with the level of power we produced.

I held my sword at the ready and ran at her with full power. Cardinal shreaked. The darkness vaporized instantly. She had a look of horror on her face her eyes a glossy white. Black blood dripped onto the floor. She looked down a celistal bronze blade was sticking out of her torso and from the back. I stopped running and was 5 feet away from her. "No.... I.... can't.... how.....?"

"Its over Cardinal, you've lost." Said Ghost stepping out from behind her. His clothes where soaked in blood, torn and his mouth was bleeding badly.

"Well....goodbye.........forever......" She said softly and was sucked into the blade in a black smoke. The blade landed on the ground with a clang.

I held my position. Elza and Danica stood there breathless. I consentrated harder and teleported them all back to the normal world, something I could only do in Overdrive mode. The space was empty but I had to unleash the power I had stored up. I hefted my blade and swung down at the ground. The clearing went white and I lost consciousness. My last thought was that Cardinal was gone and the others where safe...
