To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 11

*Ghost's Pov*

I cast a longing look at Nycole, and she winked back. I smiled and went after Kat. Could she see me? I though as I floated behind Kat. She searched allng the bottom of the floor and walls, checking every nook and crany.

She turned to the right and though the celing. I wanted to ask her about herself, but she might take offense. I chose my words carefully and broke the silence. "Hey Kat?"

"What?"

"W - would you mind telling me about yourself some?" She stopped and turned her head across her should, not directly looking at me.

"Ghost, maybe when we are done with our adventure, ok?" I nodded and floated after her.

We went though what I thought was the whole castle, but we finally came to a big open room. There in the middle was a throne with my least favorite girl in it, Cardinal. Along side her was a man who looked very strong and stable. He was well built and taller than me,but everyone was taller than me.

He bowed and stayed that way for a while. Cardinal began to speak with him.

"Well? What have tou found out?"

"They found some sort crystal and gave it to a ghost girl."

"They found a LUMINO CRYSTAL! TAKE IT FRIM THEM STOP THEM NOW!!" She screamed at the man. He bowed and shuffled away, drawing a big sword and running off. "You! Drevis! Quit being a usless stalker and go after the ghost girl who has the crystals!" A man desolved from thin air and bowed to Cardinal. He was dressed like a ninja with black all over. He looked right at us as we ducked behind the wall.

I stumbled as I heard light foot steps come near me and Kat. I had no idea weather or not she could fight, I was about to find out. I readied my fists and looked at Kat. She had her hands together with a fist and her firat fingers up. She muttered some words and her eyes lit up blue. She summoned a sharp deadly ice crystal and readied it for attacking. She summoned a ice dagger and handed it to me.

"Thanks." I muttered.

"No prob. Now kick some butt with it." She said and smiled at me. I smiled back and waited for the ninja known as Drevis. We waited in silence for what felt like forever and finally it happened, he came. He rushed at us so quick I lost my balance. Kat threw the ice sycle but missed but had already reloaded another. He slashed her arm and it started to drip silver blood. She grunted and I swung the sword cutting his face but he moved so fast and knocked my dagger out of my hand and flung me back.

"Stay outta this kid!" He snarled and lunged back at Kat. All I could do was watch the battle. He missed she struck, he struck and got her other arm badly. She blocked with and ice barrier and backed up some. He broke the barrier. She looked at him and just staring at him. She finally snapped to her sences and barely missed being impaled with the sharp sword he was using.

She lunged and fired 10 different ice attacks but he blocked them all. She punched him and blood came from his mouth as he choked on it. She pushed him to the ground but her knees where shaking something horrible.

He kicked them out from underneath her and she fell to the ground. Silver blood dripped from her lip, arm and legs. The man pinned her to the ground and before I could stop him he stabbed her across the stomach and broke her arms. He continued to slash at her stomach, face and sides. She didn't make a sound.

I ran at him with the ice dagger/sword thing and stabbed him through the back with it. Ripping it out of him and flung him across the corridor. He lay motionless and I knew he was dead. Kat sat there bleeding silver blood. She coughed up blood and looked at me as I sat down next to her.

"It's ookay.... I-I'm fine...really." She stamered quietly.

"No! Your not ok! I- I'll find something to stop the bleeding!" I began to get up but she put her hand on mine. "No... I was going to kill myself anyways....after...after seeing my brother Toast...."

I tried to hold back the tears but they slowly came. "T-Toast would like to have known you better, I'm sure..."

"Goodbye. Johnny. Tell Toast, I missed him..." and with that she stopped breathing. She died. Her body began to disappear as I held her hand untill she was gone. I stood up and wiped my tears away. Johnny should know. I thought as I got the crystals laying there on the ground. They hadn't disappeared with Kat. I put them in my pocket and took the ice blade that I had used and put it around my belt and walked off, looking for the others, saddnes filling my heart.
