To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 17

*Toast's Pov*

Nycole had collasped and that left me with Kat. I felt sick to my stomach, and I was also supprised that I wasn't hungry or tired at all. Hmm must be magic coming from the underworld, not sure though.

Kat helped me drag her over to the wall, a door off to the side was unlocked and empty so we went in there. Suddenly I could see everybody normally again, they where no longer ghosts. That means our cover is gone. Kat stood up and walked over to the door.

She was about to close it but a force pushed back. I took out my pistols and aimed at the door and Kat pulled out her dagger and striked, nearly missing his head. Jordan was back.

"Ahhh!!!" Screamed Jordan.

"Sir!" I said.

"Who the heck are you?" Said Kat.

"I'm Jordan Frye, a friend of Toast, Ghost and Nycole."

"Ohh... then get your butt in here nugget!" She said sternly and pushed Jordan into the room and locked the door.

"Watch it!" He half shouted.

"Meh... Alright, fine, but just because your a friend, don't expect me to treat you nicely."

"Thanks..." He mumbled.

I needed to say something before Kat beat him up. "Ok guys break it up. Right now we need Nycole to wake up. But it looks like she won't be back soon." As I had said this she growled and twitched a bit.

"What do you think is happening?" Asked Jordan.

"No clue..."

"Hmmm well I guess we can wait, plus we need her to lead us to Ghost."

"Yeah...good point. So I guess we wait." I said and stood up and picked up Nycole from the ground and leaned her against the wall.

*Some time WAY later*

I glanced around the room. Jordan was looking at himself in his bronze shield, Kat was cleaning her daggers and Nycole stood up looking tired and beaten.

Wait what?! Nycole was up! I stood up and walked over to her. The others looked up too. "Hey! Your up!" Said Kat and Jordan at the same time.

I patted her on the back but she didn't respond. She had her head hanged low and her hair over her face. Kat reached out, but without looking up she growled at her and Kat pulled her hand back.

We all had no idea what had happened to her and if another demon had possessed her, we needed to be ready. She lifted her hand but was still looking down. It glowed and I fired a warning shot that just barly missed her head. I was pretty skilled at using a pistol.

The light faded and she picked up her head. Her eyes where a light silver and blank looking. She stumbled and suddenly tried to round house kick me in the face. I ducked just in time but she had her fists up ready to fight.

Kat put away her daggers. "Back up and let me handle this." Me and Jordan just obeyed and backed up to the nearest wall.

I still had my pistols out and Jordan his sword and shield. Then it happened again. Nycole tried to punch Kat in the gut. She dodged and punched her back but Nycole was really fast. She missed and tried to break her arm. Kat then tried to get her face but missed as Nycole flipped backwards out of the way.

Kat rushed at her and they had become locked it hand to hand combat. One punched the other blocked and punched with the other. It just kept going.

Jordan looked heart broken. Suddenly for the split second that I had turned away, Nycole had Kat on the ground. Her hand was lighting up white, like the time she had punched....Ghost...on.... "Kat! Move!" I shouted at her. Nycole was using the move to send someone into a ghost form and kill the body's soul.

Kat had ducked her head out of the way and Nycole missed. I fired and missed hoping to draw her attention but it didn't work. Suddenly Jordan came running with his shield infront and ran right at Nycole from the side, knocking her off of Kat, Jordan pinning her arm behind her back and up against the wall.

I rushed up to Kat. "You okay?" I asked her.

"Yeah, i'm fine..."

Jordan still held Nycole up against the wall. The light in her eyes had begun to fade into their normal icy blue. She stuggled for a bit but then stopped growing limp. She fell and Jordan caught her. She blinked and looked around. Then she stared right at Jordan.

"AAAAHHHH!!!!" She screamed and fell out of Jordans hands onto the floor. She quickly picked her self up and kept blinking. "Jimmy!" She growled and looked at Jordan.

"I'm not Jimmy!" He said defensively and put his hands in the air. She rubbed her eyes and blinked again.

"Oh....oops, thought you where Jimmy, sorry about that..." She said.

"Hey, what happened?" I asked.

"Oh, it's a long story."

"Can you sum it up for us?"

"Yeah sure. So....for whatever reason I think that Ghost was knocked unconscious and Jimmy tried to take over. So me wanting to stop him, I also went with him. I was sucked into this dream world where, Jimmy and three others had tried to hurt Ghost. So I fought with him some and chained both of them up so 1. Ghost wouldn't get hurt and Jimmy couldn't hurt him. But then Jimmy was able to take control over Ghost, got him free and developed him into the darkness. I think Jimmy took over his body and we fought and then Jimmy retreated."

"Oh wow...."

"Yeah, so do you know where he is?"

"Yes, in an interrogation chamber tied up. He will wait for us, but the others are waiting for us."

"Hmm..." Said Kat.

"What do we do?" Asked Jordan.

"We pay them a visit." Said Nycole. She turned around to the wall and opened up a portal the glowed dark red. "Okay here we go!"
She turned to face us. "Weapons ready?" Everyone nodded. "Okay enter one by one and I'll close it behind us. And when they are all down, I will teleport us out okay guys?" Said Nycole. We all nodded. Jordan drew his sword and shield, Kat her Daggers and me my pistols. Nycole had this Double bladed sword thing.

"Okay here we go!" She shouted and we all ran into the portal and it closed behind us as we dropped into the chamber ready to fight.
