To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 8

*Toast's Pov*

The silence as we travled down the halls was nerve racking. I turned to look at Jordan. "Sir, are you ok?"

"No, I have a really bad head ac-..." before he could finsh he colasped on the fround out cold.

I rasied my voice, "Nycole! He is coming back!"

"Don't worry Toast." She said. "It's fine, plus if he tries anything stupid, I can take care of him." As soon as she finshed Jimmy opened his eyes.

"Hey guy's! What I miss?"

"Nothing really, I found Ghost but he was dead and now his soul is with me and and his body is a Voo-do-doll. Thats all really." Said Nycole to Jimmy.

"Wait what!?" Exclaimed Jimmy. "You did what? Will he be ok?"

"He will be fine, eventually." Said Nycole. I glanced at them talking. It was making me really nervous.

"Umm.... Madam? Maybe we should conrinue on. And what are we looking for again?"

"We are looking for Cardinal, I have a feeling that she might be behind Ghosts death."

"Right..."

"Lets move on." Said Nycole as she walked on ahead, staff in hand. I cast a glance at Jimmy and he looked sad, but he walked on head.

*Time Skip*

We had been walking in silence, walking around the empty halls, having the feeling like something terrible was going to happen. Suddenly my Ghost detecter went off. I pulled it out and read it.

"I think that we are dealing with a level 4 ghost."

"And that means what exactly?" Asked Nycole.

"That means that it has a form and can communicate with us. It should be nearby."

"Should we go look for it?" She asked.

"Why not?" Said Jimmy. "Nothing else is happening and we know where Ghost is so, I think we are in nooo rush to find Cardinal..."

"He has a point madam."

"Ok, lets go find us a ghost, Toast, lead the way."

"Right..." I turned up the sensitivity and followed the path of ghost mist shown on the detector. We took a right, then two lefts, climbed a set of stairs and walked to a dead end. "It says the ghost should be right here." I stated and crossed my arms.

Jimmy tugged on my sleeve and pointed up. There, floating and lookong right at us was a ghost.

It was a young teenaged girl. She had black hair with a braided headband in a high ponytail. The tips of her hair where blue and a part of her bangs dropped in her face over her left eye making her look like an emo. She had on a dark blue tank top along with a black hoodie tied around her waist. Her jeans shorts where ripped. Her shoes reminded me of Johnnys, black leather boots.

She floated down and stood with her boot tips touching the ground, she was almost my hight but not as tall as Nycole. She was the tallest out of us all at 6 foot 1.

The ghost girl spoke to me. "Are you alive?" She asked me and waved her hand back and forth across me, but her hand went through my head. "Hmm....so you are alive!" She said in a kinda happy voice.

"Yes, we are alive."

"Then how did you get here? This is the underworld, I think, only dead people come here."

"We....uhh..." I thought for a moment but Nycole stepped in.

"We came looking for a friend..."

"Oh, who is that friend, is there by any chance that his name is Johnny?"

I looked at her mystified. "No, we came looking for a Johnny Ghost, my partner, he umm, died here and uhh..... now we need to find a little girl who wears red and is a demon and have her fix him."

"Oh, do you mean Cardinal?" I nodded yes. "Yeah, she comes around here looking for people and checking to make sure all of the dead souls she has collected have stayed here." She said and pointed at the walls.

"Right... Well umm we need to get going, but thank you for the information ma'am." I said and we started to walk away but she called us back.

"Wait! Don't you want to tell me who you friend is here and who you are?" She called and pointed at the air to nothing.

"Umm... there is no one there ma'am. And my name is Johnny Toast, this is Nycole and Jimmy Casket."

"You're....." She stuttered. "Oh, uhh goodbye!" She said and floated through the celing.

"Well that was akward." Said Nycole. "We also need to be more careful if Cardinal is coming around here."

"Agreed." Me and Jimmy said at the same time.

While they walked on I hung out in the back and thought to myself. Why dose she look so familiar to me? And was I the only one to notice how she acted? I have a feeling we didn't truly meet her. I thought and trugged on ahead with the others.
