To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 15

*Toast's Pov*

The floor had been covered in blood from when Elza had made her appearance and kidnapped Ghost who had become one with Jimmy again.

I sat up and brushed myself off. I was alone, not even Jimmy was here with me anymore. I had never trusted him coming with us to the underworld in the first place.

I picked up my gun, the Nycole had given me a while back, and wondered why I hadn't thought to use it on Elza, she deserved it anyways.

The big empty room where it had all happened was now silent once again. I leaned on the wall and felt my vision become blurry. The room darkened and I slumped to the ground unconscious.

*Time Skip By Like, 5 Hours?*

I woke up and looked up from the ground. The room was still empty and no one was around. I stood up again and felt my bones ach. My left foor was numb but that wasn't my biggest issue. The issue was that a black portal was opening up from the ceiling. Then the vortex gave a lurch and out came two people, one Nycole and the other another girl who I didn't reconize.

Nycole had managed to land on her feet but the other one lay on her back, her lip bleeding just a little bit. I ran up to them and the girl stood up. She gasped and a look of hatred came across her face. She marched right up to me and got just about eye level. She looked just like the ghost girl we had met earlier, but a human insead of a ghost. She growled at me and smacked me right across the face...hard. I felt my self stumble and I looked at her mystified. She kept going though. She smaked me 6 more times and the last one left a red mark on my face.

"OWW!!! WHAT WAS THAT FOR AND WHO ARE YOU!?!?"

"You don't remember your own sister!" She said angrily. She rasied her hand and smacked me again. Nycole poped up behind her and dragged her back away from me. I rubbed my face, it stung alot. The girl was fuming and her eyes melted their was into my soul.

A light finally triggered in my brain when Nycole touched me. And I relized that it was Hannah Toast, my only sister. I stared at her and lowered my head. How do I apologize to her when I left her? All I wanted was for her to be safe from them...

Nycole stepped between me and her as she was walking over here ready to kill me with her eyes and slaps. "Okay guys! Enough. Look, Kat, I know how you feel. My parents left me too, but, slappping the crap outta Toaster here ain't gonna do it. So make up you two..." She said and backed up outta the way.

She stepped closered and I closed my eyes ready to get kicked or slapped or something. But nothing happened. I opened my eyes and she was givkng me the death stare. "Why?" She asked, on the verge of tears and rage.

I sighed. "I... I didn't want to see you get hurt. I... wanted to protect you. The only way I could really so that was if you lived with me and I left..."

"Is it now...? Tell the truth Toast!" She screamed at me. I winced at her harsh words.

"Mum and da where going to ship you off... and leave you to die... you know that?" I stated.

She blinked and gave me the pity look. "R-really?"

"Yes... I only left so that they couldn't kill you. If they had found out where you where. You wouldn't be here..."

"I died anyways you know... but Nycole brought me back. I died for Johnny Ghost and for you the second time...the only reason I'm here is because I didn't some really bad things back on earth. But now, at least I get to see my brother again..."

"Yeah...."

"Wanna start over brother?"

"Yes... I would like that... but right now I have some business to attend to here in the underworld. I have to get Ghost back. He was taken by Elza and Cardinal."

"Then I will stay with ypu till we make it back home."

"Agreed." She came up and wrapped me in a hug. Nycole had watched the whole thing. She stood aside with her new weapon of choice, a double bladed sword with light blue tatered wrappings around it, loose in some places, tight in others.

"Her guys... you done yet?" She called over to me.

"Yes... what do ya want?"

She stiffened but loosened up and readied her sword. I took out my gun and Kat pulled out her daggers. "We gotta move now guy's. Somethings coming and will kill us if we don't go NOW." A distant noise, of claws, metal, grunts and other sounds vcame from the tunnel Nycole was facing.

We nodded and ran the opposite way of the noise. After 5 minutes of sprinting we stopped and glanced around. Nycole had murmured something and brought her hands apart. A small digital map had appered. Some of the map was blank some was filled in. 6 dots where on the map. Three together and one in an empty part of it, the other dots moved around.

"Ok these dots represent us. Here is us..." she aaid and pointed at the group of three dots. "And there is Ghost. The places that are filled in is where I have been, where its empty is where I haven't been yet. We just now need to get to Ghost. And I assume the other two dots with him are Cardinal and Elza."

"Okay, we should go now to start to look for them." I said. They nodded in agreement.

"Alright. Lets go." Said Nycole and we started to walk following the map for as long as we could. Let Ghost be ok... I thought as we walked down the hallways in Cardinals castle.
