To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 10

*Nycole's Pov*

We rounded a corner and I thought about how that girl acted. For some reason I think that Ghost might have been taking to her. So is it possible for only ghosts to talk to him? Maybe, but this little incident didn't help my thoughts.

I noticed that Toast seemed lost in thought too. Jimmy was just scared as far as I could tell. He moved around corners with caution and running on ahead. Maybe in hopes that Cardinal would go after us and he could run away, but knowing Jimmy, he was not the kind of guy to run away from a fight.

Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of a shining light purple rock shard. I stopped and checked around us to make sure that no one was near by. "Hey guys!" I called out over my shoulder.

"Yes?" answered Toast. I pointed at the rock. "What about it?"

"No others rocks that I have seen here are that color. They have all been red colored."

"Do you think that it has some value?"

"Possibly. We should take it with us just incase." I picked it up and places it in my pocket. As soon as I placed it in my pocket that girl came floating through the wall. She looked at the ground and stooped in midair and slowly turned her head towards us.

"Hey! I need that!" She said and pointed at my pocket. She stopped and tilted her head. "So what? I need it! Plus it not like you can pick it up." She paused and we glanced back and forth nervously between each other.

I leaned over to Toast and whispered. "Who is she talking to?"

"I have no idea ma'am." He said. Mean while Jimmy had put his hand on his knife looking at the girl with an evil smile spreading across his face. I looked at him but he wasn't paying attention to me.

The girl kept rambling on to nothing not looking at us or Jimmy but at nothing.

I whispered under my breath a spell. "Komi komi la cono sa niverta!" I shouted the last part and froze time. I paced around the frozen Jimmy and took away his knife. Then I paced over to the girl and waved my staff around untill it stopped in mid air. "Co zouto revile" I said and a color spread across a body, revealing Ghost.

He floated there with his arms raised yelling at the girl. I stepped away and went back to my spot and unfroze the time. Jimmy fell over and everyone looked at him. The girl stopped arguing with Ghost, that now only I could see for five minutes or so, and looked at him. He scrambled around looking for something.

"Whats wrong Jimmy?" I asked.

"Knifey is gone!! Help me find it! It was in my hand a second ago!" He screamed/cryed and continued to search for it. The girl looked at me and so did Ghost with a sorrow filled expression on his face. I pretended that I couldn't see him.

"So, umm did you need this?" I asked and pulled out the purple glowing crystal. She nodded. Ghost's face lit up to see the crystal. "Ok, i'll give it to you if you do me a tiny favor."

"Ha! Like I'd do anything for you little girl. Ha you must be joking, just give it here!" She said.

"You didn't even hear my offer! I was gonna say tell me your name and if you know a ghost by the name of Johnny but now I don't think I will!" I said and crossed my arms at her. I watched Ghost's face become sad. He turned to the girl and began to talk with her.

She faced him, "So you do like her! I knew it! Fine i'll do it. Just but only because of our deal." She turned to me again. "Fine, my name is Kat Toast and I do know of a ghost named Johnny. Now hand over the crystal." She said and held out her hand and tapped her foot impatiently.

"Ok, where is Johnny, can you take us to him?"

Johnny shook his head no telling her to not take us to him. I saw his lips move but I heard no sounds come out.

"No, I can't... I saw him and met him but he went somewhere else. Now can I have the crystal?" She said and I tossed it to her and she caught it and put it in her pocket. "Alright, so if you find anymore of these let me know ok? Now bye. " She said and floated through the floor.

Ghost staying behind. He cast a longing glace at me. I winked at him and his face brighten up. No one saw me wink at him. He waved and flollowed Kat through the floor with a smile across his face. I turned to look at the others.

"Alright, let go find more crystal's. Ok guys!" I said and walked on with out waiting for an answer.

So Ghost has his own plan, well then, maybe we can help him. I thought happily.
