To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 28

*Nycole's Pov*

The cool crisp air flew through my longer dirty blonde hair. Crystal was in wolf form and I was using my new tech boots that allowed me to fly basically. Ghost had fallen asleep on her back and she ran along.

As we sped along Crystal led the way around corners of a small town. We had been traveling for 4 hours straight now. It was growing later and later. At first when we got the call from Kat that they had been captured we thought she was joking. But of corse she wasn't. The place where they had been taken was unknown to us. It rested outside of the boundaries and was not the greatest looking by any means. The house was old and dusty and it happened to have nobody living in it.  But we soon found out that was a lie as we fell into a trap at the main door.

We woke up on the ground. Ghost was laying stunned and trying to find his crutches in the dark room. He found them and I heard a tapping as he got up. "Crystal, Ghost, you two okay?" I asked and an echo rang out around the empty room.

"We're fine." Came Crystals reply.

"Alright let me get this going....." I lit a small match that I kept in my back pocket on random days. I'm glad that today was one of those days. The room was huge. Crystal and Ghost walked over to the light source that I held up into the air. A faint buzzing sound could be heard off in the distance. Some lights flickered on and showed where we where. A voice came on from invisible speakers and started to talk to us. "Well well well, here is the infamous pie team. What a nice place to meet don't ya say?"

Ghost started to shout back, "What have you done with Kat and Toast?" He said.

"Don't worry they are fine, for the time being, but I have more important matters to discuss with the three of you. You can deal with lots and lots of pain right Ghost?"

"What kind of a sick question is that!?"

"Just answer me, your friends life depends on your own."

Ghost growled, "I can deal with it yes."

"Good good, now Nycole, can you really do as much magic as you say you can?"

"Yes." I replied slowly, I had heard this voice before but I couldn't put a face or a name with it.

"And finally Crystal, how strong are you on wolf form?"

"What's up with you and all of these questions?"

"Answer me." The voice growled at her. She stood up tall and proud and snarled viscously back.

"Try to make me!"

"I'm giving you one last chance, answer the question or else your friends will suffer."

She paused for a small moment and then said, "make me."

Then the walls started to close in. "CRYSTAL!!! Now look what you did!! We're going to die!" Said Ghost frantically.

"We'll be fine! I have a plan," she said and ran off towards where the voice was coming from.
