To Catch A Cardinal

Chapter 3

*Nycole's Pov*

"We need to go this way more and he should be here somewhere..." I mumbled. The lava glowed as multiple pools of it formed the majority of the underworld.

"Hey, you alive?" Said Jimmy as he waved his hand infront of my face.

"Yeah, just had a thought." I replied.

Man how do you live with him? He's just so, creepy.

I guess I just got used to it?

Well you should see a huge fortress in 2 minutes. Your friend is in there.

Your sooo helpfull, you know that?

Yes I do.

I pulled out my orb and placed it in my staff so I could see it and not carry it everywhere.

"Madam? Is this where he is?" Asked Toast.

"Yes, i'm afraid it is." We all looked up at the huge structure jutting out from the red rock. It had huge blood red doors and black bars.

"This is so my thing!" Said Jimmy.

"Fine but do you relize that Cardinal is in there?" His eyes got big.
"Yeah..can we go now?"

"No, you wanted to come, now your staying here till the end. Got it?" I said threateningly. He shrunk down a bit and nodded. "Good now lets go." I pushed the door open to the castle and we walked inside.

It had a faint red glow to it on the inside. There where several corridors leading to who knows where.

"Ok, Toast, Jimmy, you two take the left and I'll take the top floor. Find anything, crush your orb, but only one. The heat effect will last for 12 hours and then no more. So if that happens find me. Got it?" They nodded and walked off to the left.

I walked over to the stairs. Now to find Johnny.

I walked along the red brick path. Suddenly the path broke away to reveal a chasam. At the bottom lay a body. I gasped. " J-Johnny?" I whispered and jumped down and landed lightly on my feet.

He was unconscious and barely breathing. No, not again!

He will die if you don't be quick.

You think I don't know this!?! NOW SHUT UP FOR JUST A BIT, THIS IS MY FRIEND!!!

Fine, jees, no need to be rude....

Fallon shut up and I tried to do all I could. I waved my staff and made it so he could breath. Next I healed his arm and ribcage. He felt hot so I reapplied the heat spell and he felt cool again. I tried to bring him conscious but it wouldn't work.

"God dang it Ghost." I mumbled but stopped as I saw a small light come from his open mouth. It floated infront of me as I grabbed it and held it in my hand. "No no no no!!" I picked up a stone and infused it with the light.

It glowed golden. Ghost's body lay motionless, he wasn't breathing anymore. He was dead. Again. And this time I couldn't fix it. This was beyond my control for someone to die twice.
