Today the team visited the robotics and AI pavilion, learning more and more about the extent to which AI and neural networks are being successfully integrated into robots of various kinds as well as other fields. The team was most excited about exoskeletons helping people with disabilities and how AI can help improve rehabilitation programs. In the right hands, AI has unlimited possibilities, but the key is for people to use it wisely.
The guys spent the day at the exhibition the same way as the last one: had a snack, attended a couple of interesting sessions, talked to some developers and company representatives, and towards the end of the exhibition decided to leave LVCC and have dinner. Today the team felt noticeably more awake, so they decided to find an eatery where they could have a good meal and a drink while relaxing their brains. Still, they get a huge information load during the day, which everyone processes and takes notes to discuss later in the company at the general council.
Having settled down in a cozy bar not far from the hotel and from the center of Vegas Strip, the guys ordered themselves a drink and a dense dinner. Conversations started, of course, with the stands they managed to visit besides AI, and the guys actively discussed new concepts and prototypes from popular brands, and then discussed who they managed to meet and establish a working contact with. Julie, of course, talked more than anyone else and covered more stands, as her main goal was networking, while the rest of the guys were learning and exploring. After sitting like that for a couple of hours in active discussion, in which everyone was involved, the conversations smoothly drifted into petty gossip. Julie shared that she had heard about a scandal between employees at a competing company where some were being disadvantaged and some were being singled out for special treatment. According to one rumor, it was said that the boss and the subordinate had a romantic relationship, and naturally the boss was biased and gave favors, benefits and other things to his partner, highlighting him in every possible way, and then promoted him.
-Well, romance at work is nothing new these days.- Namjoon waved a trifling hand, taking another sip of his beer.- John and Alex work at the same company and are married.
-Yes, but Alex and I work in fundamentally different departments. - John corrects the man.- We have different levels of power, it's true, but if we weren't married, we wouldn't even cross paths with each other and our relationship doesn't affect the company in any way.
Rose and Jennie visibly tensed from the dialog that had begun, and silently began to listen to their colleagues' opinions on the matter.
-I agree, you have to look at the situation. Doctors, for example, only find partners at work, because they literally "live" there.- Julie interjected, sipping her white wine.- However, in my opinion, relationships between people with different levels of power are unacceptable. Not anywhere. Between rank-and-file employees - okay, let them go to the HR department and register, but if it's a boss and a subordinate - it's not acceptable. This will have a very strong impact on the team and the efficiency of work processes ...
She waved her hand, and set down her glass again.
-Yeah, in a company as big as ours, it's a big deal. Reputations can suffer, not only for the company, but also for those involved in the relationship.- Hoseok agreed, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose.- Unfortunately, there's always a victim in these relationships.
-You're right, and in this case, the boss is the victim.- Julie replies, waving her hands.- Although it's usually the rank-and-file employee who gets fired rather than the boss, everyone's reputation suffers. Maybe in small companies they turn a blind eye to it, but in big companies it's a total failure.
