The week flew by quite quickly - that's what happens when there's so much to do that they can't breathe. Next week the auto show starts and the team is trying hard to get everything ready by the deadline. And now it's Friday - Valentine's Day. Everyone in the office is running around happy and contented, clearly inspired by love and finally relaxing at the end of the working week.
Jennie tried not to think about it all these days, because the situation for her is basically incomprehensible and complicated. She is in love with a girl, but she can't admit her feelings, even though they have been in close contact lately. Kim thinks that bringing her feelings down on Rose is wrong, because if it's not mutual, the blonde will feel guilt or something similar and then push Jennie away completely. She realizes that she likes Rose, but that doesn't mean she's in love with her too. Where there's a crush, there's something more, a new level and step. Once you're in love, the boundaries are blurred, and everything becomes real. They can't play these games anymore, they can't just let themselves touch each other, say something intimate and personal, and then pretend it never happened.
Jennie didn't know what to do in this situation until the last. All her friends are just annoyingly discussing how they are going to spend time with their other halves. Lisa and Chahee talk nonstop about the restaurant Chahee is going to go to, where Taehyung and his boyfriend once went. Jennie, on the other hand, just stands between them in the cafe and stares blindly ahead to where the cash register is.
-Wow, they have a booth with tiny valentines. - Suddenly Chahee spoke up, pointing her finger at a small stand on the counter, where small cards in the form of hearts of different colors.
The queue for the order reached the girls, and while Lisa was ordering instead of Jennie, she was pensively looking at the stand with postcards. She was absorbed in her thoughts, so she could hardly hear her friends' voices.
The price for a valentine is rather symbolic, but the person buying it is doing so purposefully to tell someone for the umpteenth or first time that he/she likes her/him. If the establishment was giving them away as a gift, it wouldn't have its value. In the end, Kim decided to go with a red heart without any writing on it. It might be perfect for her in their situation.
-So cute.- Lisa said, watching as Jennie twirled the little valentine between her fingers, scrutinizing it as if there was something on it.
The girls have already bought themselves some coffee and took their favorite place. Jennie continues to stare at the valentine with her hand on her head, not even fully realizing if she really wants to do this. On the other hand, it's another tiny way to tell Rose how she feels about her without saying it directly. To some, it would seem very sweet and romantic, and maybe it is. But for Jennie, it's also unexpectedly exciting. So much so, it's as if all her feelings are written on that tiny card, and if she gives it to the blonde, she'll read it and realize everything, and then push Jennie away completely.
-Yes.- Kim says lazily, then tucks the card into her sweatshirt pocket.
-By the way, where is Rose?- Lisa inquired, as if she had just noticed that the blonde was not with them today.
-She was here an hour ago, and then she went to the marketing department. - Chahee speaks up, sipping her cocoa. - She and Julie are having some problems about the car show. I think it's some kind of organizational problem.
Jennie lets her friend's words pass her ears, starting to drink her coffee and stare out the window across the street, watching the passersby. Some buildings are decorated with holiday paraphernalia, and in establishments there are promotions for two. Jennie tries to concentrate on looking at the street, which she already knows very well. Anything is better than thinking about the fact that Rose is now with Julie, probably discussing the future exhibition in private. The girl is angry at herself for letting these stupid thoughts get into her head, knowing perfectly well that Rose doesn't care about Julie, but she can't help it. Or maybe Jennie is angry that Rose didn't bring her along. After all, they solve all the issues together.
